It's quick & easy. How to fix code for Run-time Error 52, Bad file name or number? P: 26 JAGster I don’t know VBA but have been using Access for awhile using http://stackoverflow.com/questions/25064160/run-time-error-52-bad-file-name-or-number tables, queries, forms and macros. I am trying to automate importing a number of Excel 2007 spreadsheets into an Access 2007 table. The import will be done each month, but the number error 52 of spreadhseets could be different. The spreadsheets will all be saved to the same folder. I need to import all the spreadsheets in the folder into the same table. I found VBA code in a different post that was written for Excel 2003 and Access 2003. I changed the path, the table name and the spreadsheet type but when I run the code I get runtime error 52 Run-time error 52, Bad file name or number. When I debug the code, it highlights the line this line --strFile = Dir(path & "*.xlsx"). Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers FunctiongetData() DimstrFileAsString'Filename DimstrFileList()AsString'FileArray DimintFileAsInteger'FileNumber DimfilenameAsString DimpathAsString DoCmd.SetWarningsFalse path="\\v:\scc-e\irg\MonthlySAP\" strFile=Dir(path&"*.xlsx") WhilestrFile<>"" 'addfilestothelist intFile=intFile+1 ReDimPreservestrFileList(1TointFile) strFileList(intFile)=strFile strFile=Dir() Wend IfintFile=0Then MsgBox"Nofilesfound" ExitFunction EndIf Sep 20 '11 #1 Post Reply ✓ answered by pdebaets I don't think that's a valid path. Try Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers path="v:\scc-e\irg\MonthlySAP\" Share this Question 6 Replies Expert 5K+ P: 8,410 ADezii The Code seems fine, I think the problem lies in the path Variable Assignment, namely: Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers path="\\v:\scc-e\irg\MonthlySAP\" P.S. - You may also wish to change the path String Variable to strPath so as to avoid confusion with the PATH used to set the Search Path for Executable Files, namely: Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers DimstrPathasString strPath="\\v:\scc-e\irg\MonthlySAP\" Sep 21 '11 #2 reply P: 16 pdebaets I don't think that's a valid path. This will open the DEBUG window. In this window type ?strPat

This code had been written by someone else no longer with my company, but the VBA script worked when last run. Now, when I attempt to run it, I keep getting run time error 52 ("Bad file name or number"). Any suggestions? The code is much longer, but the error (per the debugger) highlights as such: Print #intFreeFile, _ " *XXXXXXXXX * * * Error in code 'main_ProcessBringFwd' " & Err & ": " & _ Error(Err) vba excel-vba runtime share|improve this question edited Dec 7 '15 at 13:57 Luuklag 1,231928 asked Jul 31 '14 at 16:21 New_to_VBA 111 Show us the code. –Nick Udell Jul 31 '14 at 16:23 The code is much longer, but the error (per the debugger) highlights as such: Print #intFreeFile, " *XXXXXXXXX * * * Error in code 'main_ProcessBringFwd' " & Err & ": " & Error(Err) –New_to_VBA Jul 31 '14 at 16:48 I think we need to see a little bit more of your code... what is the value of intFreeFile at this time the error raises? Is the file already open by another application? Etc. –David Zemens Jul 31 '14 at 16:55 The macro is supposed to work on about 300 excel files, none of which are open or being used at this time. Not sure about the value of intFreeFile - does this refer to the # of the file being worked on? It would appear that no files had been accessed when I tried to run the macro. –New_to_VBA Jul 31 '14 at 17:00 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote The problem is prob
