Since Friday March 20 I have not had access to the SBC network. When I try to connect I get error message 651. I tried calling customer support and after about 30 minutes (most of the time for the tech to put me on hold to 'ask a question') they told me its a problem with my computer and I have to pay to have the problem resolved. I asked how they know this and they said the line is good so it must be my computer. What? How is that helpful? There have been ATT trucks down the street at the main box working for about 2 weeks now. The tech told me that it is nothing that they have done. She couldn't tell me how she came to that conclusion. I have Win 7 Speedstream 5360 directly connected to the computer Any help? Me too I have been having problems for about 2 weeks where the network cuts off and I have to shut down everything and reboot to get back on the network, sometimes multiple times. This answer was rated: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Windows 7 consistently gives error 651 message when I try to set up my broad band connection. I have tried https://forums.att.com/t5/2013-Archive/Can-t-access-internet-error-651/td-p/2021597 to replace the rasppppoe.dll file in the drivers folder of Windows as recommended but it's just not working. Is there a fix for this problem that doesn't entail me becoming a computer tech!? Is there a software patch or a reasonably simple fix that works? Share this conversation Expert: Dr. Dan replied4 years ago. I would recommend doing the following to try to fix this error:Right click my computer, then manage, then services and http://www.justanswer.com/computer/6kufn-fix-error-651-windows-7.html applications, then services , from that list find network connections and other network services such as access, connection, list, location, store, etc.. Select restart the service for all the "network" fieldsLet me know if this helps out. Ask Your Own Computer Question Customer: replied4 years ago. Don't know if I did something wrong but when I tried to do as you suggested I lost all network connection and still got the error 651 message when I tried to set up a new connection. When I opened SERVICES I started, or restarted, about 4 or 5 items that begin with network, including ACCESS, CONNECTION, etc. You might have to give more detail for this part if necessary. My PC is a Dell xps 8300 and it has a wireless card as well. The wireless is connecting well via my attached Cisco E2000 router. It's the direct AT&T broadband connection that won't work.Let me know if you can do anything further please. Expert: Dr. Dan replied4 years ago. So is your computer connecting via wifi or through a network cable? Also are any other computers on your network able to connect to the internet?
