Maybe it helps to reduce the speed. It is possible to reset the scsi bus, so a reboot may not be required. http://misterd77.blogspot.com/2007/1...26-kernel.html Not neccessarily related, but benefical in general: rhes4 is quite old. Is it feasible to upgrade to rhes6? Edit: The MLS2024 seems to be fairly new. Honestly, I was expecting a scsi only. http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en...2-3936307.html With that hardware, a OS upgrade seems even more desired. You must always face the curtain with a bow. Quote Postby Partagos » 2010/05/27 17:32:27 We have a HP DL380 G6 connected to a HP 1760 SAS 1 u rack enclosure via a P212 running CentOS 5.5 (kernel 2.6.18-194.el5 x86_64). The cciss driver is the latest from HP and the firmware error 70000 for all the devices are up to date. I can't write more than 70GB to tape before I get kernel errors:cciss: cp ffff810037fff308 has protocol error st0: Error 70000 (sugg. bt 0x0, driver bt 0x0, host bt 0x7).Then it craps out. It does this when using amanda or dd. The drive has been replaced, I've tried a HP SC44Ge before the error 70000 P212 with the same error. Can anyone help? My apologies if I've posted this in the wrong forum. Thanks in advance. Quote Postby Partagos » 2010/05/27 20:42:11 The latest kernel had been tried, mind you that kernel did log more information than the 5.5 release kernel. I actually downgraded the kernel to 2.6.18-194.el5 because the HP cciss driver wouldn't install with the newer kernel. The default cciss driver is 3.6.20-RH4 with this test. Using 'dd if=file.dat of=/dev/nst0 bs=32768 count=3276799' again the kernel logs:May 27 13:31:40 fons kernel: cciss: cp ffff810037f057a8 has protocol error May 27 13:32:46 fons kernel:
