"The local and remote computers involved in the PPP conversation are the same computer. This usually means a device (for example, a modem) on the link is echoing characters back. Try resetting these devices." (You do mean error 737 right?) http://www.mcdermottroe.com/kb/Win9x/dun/dunerrors.php Dman901, Aug 13, 2003 #2 zupp0rt Joined: Sep 18, 2003 Messages: 2 I am having the same problem....yes, the code is 737....I have windows XP prof and I reboot my computer, and I have also tried to connect several times, but it is useless..... BTW, the computer hat I am trying to connect is a PPP server running linux Red hat.... I am trying to connect to my work from home.... Any help will be appreciated... Thanks in advance. zupp0rt, Sep 18, 2003 #3 kellnz Joined: Sep 18, 2003 Messages: 14 Try adding command ATE0 to modem settings, this turns off echo kellnz, Sep 19, 2003 #4 zupp0rt Joined: Sep 18, 2003 Messages: 2 My problem was solved. It turn out to be that the network administrator changed the password. After I used the right password, I had no problems at all. I want to thank to kellnz for his advice, even when I did not use it. Funny thing that the error message does not say that the password is wrong, huh?......... Thanks again. zupp0rt, Sep 22, 2003 #5 Sponsor

Check your PC Drivers now. Error 737 1. Check http://www.modemhelp.net/dunerror/error_737.shtml all of the dialer and network settings. Try removing any init strings from the modem. 2. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the modem. 3. Add E0 to any init string the computer may have been using or just use ATE0. This turns echo off. Basically the computer is echoing commands back to itself and thinks that it is trying to negotiate PPP with itself, so this could fix it. the remote modemThis error may occur when making calls to ISPs that use an authentication protocol within PPP (point-to-point protocol).ISPs using authentication after PPP - may include/require a dial-up script or other proprietary dialer. In some cases, a plain-text string is transmitted to the RAS, and then a PPP session is established. If the PPP session isn't established because the local system is receiving back the packets it is sending, error 737 may be reported. The problem may be timing: a script that has DELAY # (where # is a number representing seconds) may need a value 1 or more seconds greater; or, if there is no delay, one may be needed.Examine the PPP Log to see details of the PPP setup failure.DUNS ERROR 738738 - The server did not assign an address. This error may occur in Windows 2000 or XP if the Negotiate multi-link for single link connection option is enabled for the dial-up connection.
