Can't Sign Into Xbox Live On Xbox One
every thread I found talking about error 80048821 said something like "make your password shorter, without unique characters, and less secure, and it'll work." It seemed to be the problem for some people, but not for me. Other suggestions included reinstalling everything http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/errors/error-code-80048821 from GFWL and Dark Souls to .Net Framework, Silverlight, and other Microsoft services. Or some suggestions were to open ports in my router, or turn on UPnP, or download Microsoft Flight, none of these were the answer either. The problem is I had two-factor authentication enabled on my account, and GFWL doesn't support two-factor authentication. You'll have to create an application password in your account settings from Windows Live. Go to login.live.com, sign in, and click on Security on the left. Then about halfway http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3155752 down is "App Passwords." Click on that to generate a password to use with GFWL. I had only seen one person in all of my Google travels who suggested two-factor authentication as the problem, but I couldn't find any one to suggest application passwords. So here I am trying to spread the word so that the next person who encounters this problem doesn't have to spend six hours troubleshooting like I did. Cheers! Second thing to do is to check if you have two factor authentication enabled. If this is the case you can not use your normal password for xbox/outlook/windowslive. You have to create an app password and use this for GFWL. More info about app password f.ex. http://www.msoutlook.info/question/773 Last edited by ReidloStonE: 08-27-2014 at 01:32 AM.
