It wouldn't reinstall so I downloaded avast! instead. This morning I decided to try to install it again. I downloaded the latest free version, uninstalled avast! and turned off my firewall but still couldn't get AVG to install. This is the message I received - Local machine installation failed Error: Action failed for file avgemc.exe:starting service Service avgemc failed to progress during startup at checkpoint I've looked on the AVG forum but can't find anything relating to the above error message. Can anybody explain what it might mean please? I've a feeling this was the same message I was getting when I downloaded and tried to install last year too. I wondered if it was a compatability issue.
