Error Cannot Extract Column Definition
Aug 22, 2008. Don K Guest I am using Visio 2003 to reverse engineer an Access 2003 backend. (I inherited this from another developer so there may be issues that I am unaware of.) When I try to reverse engineer the data mdb, I get the following error: "Error! Cannot extract column definition for the table/view 'name of table'. The definition is not available or you may not have sufficient privileges. Please check with your database administrator." I got this error on all tables in the backend. I googled the error message but found little information other than 1 page that suggested changing ownership of the tables. When I opened the mdb and looked at ownership, all tables had an unknown owner, which I changed to admin. That did not solve the issue. Has anyone seen this before, and know how to proceed? Thanks. The process I'm following is create an ODBC connection for the database, pointing to the appropriate http://superuser.com/questions/292221/visio-2007-reverse-engineer-access-database-fails file (all files are on my local drive) start Visio Create a new Database Model Diagram From the Database menu pick Reverse Engineer pick the data source from the list go thru the wizard, selecting all of the tables. (no username or password is needed to open the database in access, so those are left blank) when I click finish, I get an error: Error! model their quickbase databases? Pre Visio 2013, there was an option to "reverse engineer" the model, where Visio would connect to quickbase via QuNect and create the data https://quickbase-community.intuit.com/questions/779024-microsoft-viso-reverse-engineer-database-issue model for your tables. I've used this on some apps with great success. However, I have a few tables now that Visio won't pull in. It gives an error of:Error! In one of my Rails apps which is not yet Rails 4 (where support for Postgres JSON has been added) I added a JSON column like this: create_table :foo do |t| t.column :bar, :json end but I can't figure out how to set a default value for the column. I tried all variations like {}, '{}', '{}'::json, '[]'::json etc. but I either get an error when the migration runs or it simply doesn't work, meaning the migration runs but, when I create a new Foo, bar is nil. ruby-on-rails json ruby-on-rails-3.2 rails-postgresql pg share|improve this question edited Dec 3 '13 at 4:54 Chris Travers 12.8k424107 asked Oct 31 '13 at 19:44 Manuel Meurer 1,71912343 1 Have you tried setting the default value by hand inside the model?
