down vote favorite I did a select statement to some tables that I have in a linked server SELECT A.[STCOMP], A.[STDATE], A.[STUNM], A.[STQTY], A.[STWWAY], A.[STVOID], A.[STMATR], A.[STTCKT], C.[RWDESC], A.[STDESC], A.[STLNDF], B.[CSLNAM], B.[CBLNAM],D.[CVAR6] FROM [EPAK].[B00BF4CR].[IWSE4S8].[SCTRN] A INNER JOIN [EPAK].[B00BF4CR].[IWSE4S8].[CUST] B ON A.[STNCST] = B.[CMSTC#] AND A.[STNCMP]= B.[CMSTCO] AND A.[STCOMP]= B.[CCMPNY] AND A.[STCUST]= B.[CCUST#] INNER JOIN [EPAK].[B00BF4CR].[IWSE4S8].[SCRWC] C ON C.[RWDESC]= A.[STRWC] AND C.[RWCOMP]= A.[STCOMP] INNER JOIN [EPAK].[B00BF4CR].[IWSE4S8].[CUSX] D ON A.[STCOMP]= D.[CCMPNY] AND A.[STCUST]= D.[CCUST#] WHERE error converting data type varchar to numeric union all A.[STCOMP]='51' AND A.[STDATE] BETWEEN 20140317 AND 20140323 AND A.[STVOID] = 'N' ORDER BY A.[STTCKT] and I got this error Error converting data type varchar to numeric. sql sql-server-2008 share|improve this question edited Apr 5 '14 at 11:43 Max 4,11011426 asked Mar 28 '14 at 15:27 asfsdf 35119 What you have to remember is that you at least have access to your data. We don't. You need to narrow down which column(s) in which table(s) are causing you problems. Then narrow it down to "all rows" or "some rows", and in the latter case, work out which rows. –Damien_The_Unbeliever Mar 28 '14 at 15:31 when I double clic on the error it highlighted all of this fields A.[STCOMP], A.[STDATE],A.[STUNM],A.[STQTY],A.[STWWAY],A.[STVOID],A.[STMATR],A.[STTCKT],C.[RWDESC],A.[STDESC], A.[STLNDF],B.[CSLNAM],B.[CBLNAM],D.[CVAR6] –asfsdf Mar 28 '14 at 15:34 1 I would guess the error is on one of the joins. THe nature of the error is that the datatypes between two of the tables is not the same and the system can't do the implicit conversion. The error is likely in A.[STNCST] = B.[CMSTC#] or A.[STCUST]= B.[CCUST#] or A.[STCUST]= D.[CCUST#] but it could be on any of the associations. For each table we'd need to know the data types of the fields being joined. I'm going to guess you have some unexpected data in one

Solved error converting varchar to int Posted on 2005-03-31 Crystal Reports 2 Verified Solutions 8 Comments 1,047 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-05 Hi I'm having trouble getting this crystal report to work. The error message that keeps on coming up is the following: ODBC error converting error:[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] Syntax error converting the varchar value 'DM Gonewaya' to a column of data type int. The formula references a sql database and the idea is to pick out certain text and set a value to 1 in the report. The formual looks like this: IF {FLM09_CALL_RESULT.TEXT}= "Accountancy & Tax" THEN 1 ELSE IF {FLM09_CALL_RESULT.TEXT}= "All 3 Titles" THEN 1 ELSE IF {FLM09_CALL_RESULT.TEXT}= "DM Refusal" THEN 1 ELSE IF {FLM09_CALL_RESULT.TEXT}= "Emp error converting data & AC" THEN 1 ELSE IF {FLM09_CALL_RESULT.TEXT}= "Employment & Tax" THEN 1 ELSE IF {FLM09_CALL_RESULT.TEXT}= "More Info" THEN 1 ELSE IF {FLM09_CALL_RESULT.TEXT}= "Not Interested" THEN 1 ELSE IF {FLM09_CALL_RESULT.TEXT}= "Order Accountancy" THEN 1 ELSE IF {FLM09_CALL_RESULT.TEXT}= "Order Emp" THEN 1 ELSE IF {FLM09_CALL_RESULT.TEXT}= "Order Tax" THEN 1 ELSE 0 The table has three columns two integer and one varchar column. The call_result.text column being the varchar column. On an earlier search I found something saying 'crystal does not support implict conversions from one data type to another'. If that is what is causing the problem (I'm not sure it is) how can I convert the text in the varchar columns can be represented as an integer? 0 Question by:ramrod1979 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 34 Active today Best Solution byBrian Crowe There's no problem with the formula above other than being overly verbose. IF {FLM09_CALL_RESULT.TEXT} In ["Accountancy & Tax", "All 3 Titles", "DM Refusal", "Emp & AC", "Employment & Tax", "More Info", Go to Solution 8 Comments LVL 34 Overall: Level 34 Crystal Reports 6 Message Active today Accepted Solution by:Brian Crowe2005-03-31 There's no problem with the formula above other than being overly verbose.
