I think Oralce uses a 10 bit and SQL Server uses 8 bit, so you could have dates that would be valid in Oracle that are not valid in SQL Server. You should use OPENQUERY:SELECT * FROM OPENQUERY(LinkedServerName, 'SELECT * FROM [SomeTable] WHERE [SomeDateField] is NULL OR [SomeDateField] > ''1/1/1753''');SELECT * FROM OPENQUERY(LinkedServerName, 'SELECT * FROM [SomeTable] WHERE [SomeDateField] is NULL OR [SomeDateField]< ''12/31/2053''');Or you could cast the date as a varchar:SELECT * FROM OPENQUERY(LinkedServerName, 'SELECT CAST([SomeDateField] AS varchar(26)) FROM [SomeTable])Whateve

My access database table has a field with data http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic311481-149-1.aspx type Date/Time and SQL server table has a field with data type datetime. When I am running the SSIS package, it is throwing the following error and stops execution. [SQL Server Destination [12466]] Error: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E07. Have you identified the values that fail? Using the error output is a very easy way to capture this data. My best guess for now is the values are out of range for the SQL datetime type. A derived column transformation could be used to massage these values depending on requirements. I have narrowed the problem down to a specific column, LASTTBLUPD, which must be of type DBTYPE_DBTIMESTAMP. This column contains a date/time field, which SQL is apparently unable to translate. I am unable error converting data to get CONVERT or CAST to do anything, either. Searching for null values also results in the same error. Using IBM's iSeries ODBC driver to link to the AS/400 server, I am able to query all other columns successfully. I have tried using OPENQUERY and have tried every solution to this error that I could find by googling, including other Experts Exchange solutions. Nothing seems to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated! All of these queries produce the same error: select * from (TABLENAME) select convert(varchar, LASTTBLUPD) from (TABLENAME) select cast(LASTTBLUPD as bigint) from (TABLENAME) select convert(bigint, convert(varchar, LASTTBLUPD, 21)) from (TABLENAME) select * from openquery(,'select to_char(LASTTBLUPD,''mm-dd-yyyy'') (TABLENAME)') select LASTTBLUPD from (TABLENAME) where LASTTBLUPD is not null Select all Open in new window 0 Question by:jagibbo Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 34 Active today Best Solution byGary Patterson No, openquery is an SQL server function. The native db2/400 query inside is never even getting pasesed to the AS/400 at this point. Specify the name of your LinkedServer. Is this supposed to be a Brio issue? The query would run successfully or not outside of Brio? Top For discussions on Brio Software please visit the Business Intelligence - General Discussions group.
