although not in warranty is only two years old and has a similar fault to your LS443 and the owners manual suggests return to kodak for a firmware update. The policy is to pay A$45 for a quote or A$525 for a repair whatever the problem. I paid for the quote and the after three weeks it was kodak easyshare v705 camera error e45 sent to me email and unsurprisingly the quote was $525. This it seems, was for a replacment DX4900 not for my camera to be repaired. I rejected their offer of the replacement camera and asked for a detailed statement of how they anticipated the repair to take four and a half hours and had they upgraded the firmware. I have not had a reply. Many phone calls and emails have been made to techsupport and despite many promises of being "already elevated to priority" there has been no action at all. Kodak seem to be completely uninterested in the fate of their products once the warranty has expired. I am about to take action for compensation through Australia's consumer protection laws Reply Reply with quote Complain ForumParentFirstPreviousNextFlat view Post (hide subjects) Posted by When Kodak LS443 shows camera error # E45 what does it mean? someone from Kodak looks at this group and offers help - I doubt other manufacturers do that. Actually I'm not sure that your comment that a firmware upgrade would improve things. It didn't http://www.velocityreviews.com/threads/kodak-ls443-camera-error-e45.421856/ for me at least. Background: My lens on my Koday LS443 failed for the http://www.fixya.com/support/t2624835-error_e45_see_user_guide_kodak_easy second time in March 2005. There wasn't an error message that time - just clicking and failure to move the lens. They replaced the lens assembly, some firmware, and the rotary mode knob. They were very nice to do it for free even though it was 15 months since out of warranty and 15 months since the error e45 last time they repaired it. The other option was to trade it in for an LS753 for $125. I took the free option which was maybe a mistake. Current issue: Now (10 months since last repair) it has failed for the third time. This time it gives the "Camera Error # E45 See users guide" for a few seconds before the display goes off. It makes a slight buzzing / camera error e45 clicking sound and then quits. Lens stays out. Camera shuts off but lens does not retract. I guess I'll have to contact repair again. This time I might take the upgrade option and hope the upgrade camera doesn't have the problem also. Seems like an inherent design flaw in my model. The Kodak cameras are great. They have far and away the best menuing system of any manufacturer, the photos are great, the repair options are generous, and it's an American company, so I'll keep using Kodak cameras. I just haven't had great luck with reliability, but I've also heard worse things about some other manufacturers also so I'm not going to hold it against them. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it u
