user may be left viewing the faulty code in a full version of Access, while a run-time version just crashes. The simplest approach is to display the Access error message and quit the procedure. Each procedure, then, ms access on error resume next will have this format (without the line numbers): 1 Sub|Function SomeName() 2 On Error GoTo vba error handling best practices Err_SomeName ' Initialize error handling. 3 ' Code to do something here. 4 Exit_SomeName: ' Label to resume after error. 5 Exit error number : -2147217900 vba Sub|Function ' Exit before error handler. 6 Err_SomeName: ' Label to jump to on error. 7 MsgBox Err & " " & Error$ ' Place error handling here. 8 Resume Exit_SomeName ' Pick up again and quit. https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/es-ES/f96aa98f-f626-43ec-a04f-0f5491843970/capturar-error-access?forum=vstoes 9 End Sub|Function The labels (lines 4 and 6) must be in the current procedure, and must be unique. For a task where several things could go wrong, replace lines 7~8 with more detail: Select Case Err Case 9999 ' Whatever number you anticipate. Resume Next ' Use this to just ignore the line. Resume Exit_SomeName ' Use this to give up on the proc. Case Else ' Any unexpected error. Call LogError(Err, http://allenbrowne.com/ser-23b.html Error$, "SomeName()") Resume Exit_SomeName End Select The Case Else in this example calls a custom procedure to write the error details to a table. This allows you to review the details after the error has been cleared. The table might be named "tLogError" and consist of: Field Name Data Type Description ErrorLogID AutoNumber Primary Key ErrNumber Number Integer. The Access-generated error number. ErrDescription Text Size=255. The Access-generated error message. ErrDate Date/Time System Date and Time of error. Default: =Now() CallingProc Text Name of procedure that called LogError() UserName Text Name of User. Below is the procedure for writing to this table. If you wish to go further, you could extend it to count errors recorded recently and suppress the display of the same message repeatedly, or give up retrying locking errors. Sub LogError (ByVal iErrNumber As Integer, ByVal strErrDescription As String, strCallingProc As String) On Error GoTo Err_LogError ' Purpose: Generic error handler. ' Logs errors to table "tLogError". ' Arguments: iErrNumber - value of Err ' strErrDescription - value of Error$ ' strCallingProc - name of sub|function that generated the error. ' Author: Allen Browne, allen@allenbrowne.com, June 1997. Dim NL As String * 2 ' New Line Dim sMsg As String ' String for display in MsgBox Dim db As Database ' Current database Dim rst As R

Which version do I have? More... You can use the OnError macro action in Access to specify what should happen when an error occurs in a macro. Note: The OnError macro action isn't available in Access web apps. Setting The OnError macro action has the following arguments. Action argument Description Go to Specify the general behavior that should occur when an error is encountered. Click the drop-down arrow and then click one of the following settings: Setting Description Next Access records the details of the error in the MacroError object but does not stop the macro. The macro continues with the next action. Macro Name Access stops the current macro and runs the macro that is named in the Macro Name argument. Fail Access stops the current macro and displays an error message. Macro Name If the Go to argument is set to Macro Name, type the name of the submacro to be used for error handling. The name you type must match a submacro name in the current macro; you can't enter the name of a different macro object. In the example below, the ErrorHandler sub macro is contained in the same macro object as the OnError macro action. This argument must be left blank if the Go to argument is set to Next or Fail. Note: The macro design window was changed in Access 2010. If you are using Access 2007, the name of the macro to be used for error handling must match a name in the Macro Name column of the current macro. Remarks The OnError macro action is usually placed at the beginning of a macro, but you can also place the action later in the macro. The rules established by the action will take effect whenever the action is run. If you set the Go to argument to Fail, Access behaves the same way it would if there were no OnError action in the macro. That is, if an error is encountered, Access stops the macro and displays a standard error message. The main use for the Fail setting is to turn off any error handling that you established earlier in a macro. Example The following macro demonstrates the use of the OnError macro action. In this example, the OnError action specifies that Acc
