Cferror
It has the following error : 08/06 12:33:44 Error [scheduler-1] - Unknown SMTP host: 10.0.0.1 What I need is catching that exception, but it always returns 0 (never return 6 although it has an error). May you tell me that how can I catch an exception? In my code, it never throws an exception, it always returns 0??? I want it return 6 when it has errors. Thanks so much :) 951Views coldfusion onerror Tags: none (add) This content has been marked as final. Show 2 replies 1. Re: Catch an error in CFMAIL Sankalan Aug 6, 2007 12:40 AM (in response to monkeyvu) How did you get the exact error message? Did you get it from CF Admin scheduler message? The code block that you are using should work fine. There is nothing wrong in it. If SMTP host will be unknown then code will not generate any error. Onle the mail will not be sent. You can get the undelivered mails from C:\ColdFusion8\Mail\Undelivr. This is the undelivered mails path in case of CF 8 and my installation drive in "C" Thanks Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 2. Email Validation, IsValid(), And CFMail Errors By Ben Nadel on September 12, 2006 Tags: ColdFusion Who here hasn't had to validate an email address format at some point? Heck, http://www.bennadel.com/blog/265-coldfusion-email-validation-isvalid-and-cfmail-errors.htm I do that in practically every application that I build. And why do http://www.quackit.com/coldfusion/tutorial/coldfusion_error_handling.cfm I do it? The truth is, I don't really care if people mess up entering their own email address. I mean sure, I validate that. But really, my main concern is NOT having the ColdFusion page request crap out. If you attempt to send a CFMail tag with a bad email address format, it will error handling throw an error.Sometimes, my email validation is not perfect and I end up not allowing some emails that are actually valid. This got me thinking - what is a valid email address? Or rather, what does ColdFusion think a valid email address is? There are two ways to look at this:What will pass an IsValid() method call? What will let a CFMail tag execute successfully? To test this, I set cfmail error handling up an array of emails and then tried sending emails out. In the example below, you will notice that I use ".ben" in the email extension a lot. That is because I don't actually want to send emails to valid addresses. I just want to test to see if they send action works (yes, I did get several hundred undeliverable emails). exception is when something occurs out of the ordinary. Often, this will result in a nasty looking error message being presented to the user. You have probably seen the types of error messages that ColdFusion presents when something goes wrong - although these can be very useful to us as developers, it's probably enough to scare most users away from your website! You can use error handling techniques to display a more user friendly error message to the user. You can still present your header and footer as you normally would, as well as any other content that was on the page, right up until the error occurred as well as after the error. ColdFusion provides a number of error handling tools to assist developers in catching errors and performing another action accordingly.
