It makes developer's life easy if there is a proper way to understand Errors. Pentaho Data Integration (Kettle) provide a pentaho transformation steps very easy step to handle exception. The only effort is to define an error handling output and to stream your error data to the output. Below Image gives a sample overview of Error Handling in Kettle. The red dotted line which starts from the "CSV Input" step indicates the Error hop. Kettle - Example Showing Error Handling Step Simply "right click" on the input step or the step where you want to detect Error. Select "Define Error Handling…" Kettle - Right Click on the Step and Select Error handling Step Once you select "Define error handling…" , you will get the below screen. You can define any variable name of your choice. These fields will act as an indicator in defining your errors. Incase you are finding any error, the errors will be logged against these fields. You can specify the target step and get to know what went wrong !!! Kettle - Define the Error handling parameters The fields which are defined are as below : 1. Nr of errors fieldname : Its is an integer field which will define how many errors are being found in a field. 2. Error descriptions fieldname : It holds the data the errors like "Error inserting row" ,"Data truncation: Out of range value adjusted for column ‘id’ at row 1″ etc. 3. Erro
