Fri 21st Mar '08, 12:05pm Hi, i don´t want to get any error message via email, so i tried to switch on logging error in a simple log file. I found that setting in the vbulletin options, error handling. But one question: Should i use the full path means: /var/www/.... or only /logs -> which is located in the root directory of my vbulletin. Thanks very much! BTW: What file rights should i use? 755 oder 777 for the folder? steve Tags: None Jose Amaral Rego Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Posts: 11061 #2 Fri 21st Mar '08, 3:07pm You can view how to do this by clicking of the help icon to the right (ltr-view). http://your_domain_name/admincp/help.php?s=&do=answer&page=options&pageaction=options&option=errorlogphp Log Database Errors to File Code: Enter a full server path. I've set permissions to the directory to 777. i've tried to create the directory below and above my public_html im on a vps I think what it boils down to, I'm not sure at which point in the directory structure does the admincp interface interpret me to be writing. Like if http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forum/vbulletin-legacy-versions-products/legacy-vbulletin-versions/vbulletin-3-7-questions-problems-and-troubleshooting/270624-error-log-file-path I wanted to set the address in admin cp(in vB) for php error logging, would I have to do http://sitename.com/logging/php_errors.log or /home/user/public_html/logging/php_errors.log or /logging/php_errors.log or if I wanted to set my logs above the public_html directory could I do this? /home/user/logging/php_errors.log I don't understand what admincp can interpret? As far as it's concerned, does it only know about /whatever-folder-below-public_html ? Thanks for your help! I don't see why you think having issues logging into the AdminCP, would mean that there are php errors occurring. Did you set a custom cookie domain, or folder at some point? __________________ Looking for ImpEx? No members have liked this post. Yesterday evening I found out that my site's Vbulletin forum has a very weird new error. When someone quotes another post, Vbulletin automatically links back to the original post. It's started making these links back begin with ‘https'. The site isn't on a secure certificate, never has been. Broken links and ominous-looking security warnings everywhere. Wordpress is installed in mydomain.com/blog; Vbulletin is installed in mydomain.com/forums. So I can't see how a WordPress plugin can change anything in Vbulletin. (Also, I tried deactivating both BPS and Wordfence and it didn't help.) However… I hadn't touched Vbulletin at all, so I have to wonder. Could BPS or Wordfence have done this? Thanks for any help! So you do not want to deactivate the BPS plugin for troubleshooting and instead want to use the BPS Troubleshooting steps: Â http://forum.ait-pro.com/forums/topic/read-me-first-free/#bps-free-general-troubleshooting The BPS Security Log is a Primary Troubleshooting Tool: Â Your BPS Security Log logs blocked hackers, spammers, etc. & also logs anything else that BPS may be blocking in another Plugin or Theme. To confirm or eliminate that BPS is blocking something legitimate in another Plugin or Theme, check your BPS Security Log for any log entries with that Plugin or Theme name. If you have confirmed that BPS is blocking something in another Plugin or Theme, search the forum using that Plugin or Theme name for a solution. Â If no search results are returned for that Plugin or Theme name then create a new Forum Topic and post the Security Log entry from your BPS Security Log that shows exactly what is being blocked in that Plugin or Theme. A whitelist (exclude) rule can then be created to allow whatever is being blocked by BPS. Â The BPS Security Log logs all 403 errors whether or not BPS is related to or causing the 403 error. Â Example: Â Something installed on your server is causing a 403 error. Â That 403 error will be logged in the BPS Security Log. htaccess files are server configuration files that are hiearchical/r
