Error Handling Framework In Informatica
now Overview Specification Support Seller Resources Comments () Overview When a user has some exceptions that need to be handled in the ETL process. Such exceptions are called as User defined exceptions. So Error handling is one of the important process in Data Warehousing and Data Integration projects. This mapping gives solution for User Defined Error handling, that user has exceptions need to be handled by using Informatica PowerCenter functions (i.e., error () and abort ()) to capture user defined errors.ScenarioWe create a mapping with expression transformation which handles user defined errors using Power Center functions error () and abort (). The mapping consists of CUSTOMER_INFO as source table, exp_Error_Count as express transformation and CUSTOMER_INFO_TGT as target table. The exp_Error_Count has logic to handle the user defined error (i.e., COUNTRY! =USA), then count error.Should not load country, not equal to USA, But capture such transactions into error table.Error counts greater than 8 then abort the process and stop Workflow.Configuration TasksWe need to configure session under Config Object for row error logging.Assign the appropriate data

Error Handling in informatica Ace asked Jan 13, 2011 | Replies (7) Hi Team, I need to capture all errors in a relational table, while executing a workflow. Whwther it is due to multiple matching in lookup transformation, any rejected records, if session fails, the Informatica error Is there any way, we can get these information. Most important for me is if lookup is returning multiple records, i need to put that key/record in error table, so that later we can identify. Best Practice for Data Error Handling in Informatica? john smith-long asked Nov 8, 2011 | Replies (5) Hi All, We have a business requirement to do a detail error handling on source data. If a source record violates data integrity rules then that has to be loaded into an error logging table. We did this using router transformation. Now the user is saying they need to know which column or combination of columns violated data integrity rules, so we have to put some error message accordingly in the error logging table in another column. The contents of the erroneous record are to be put into one column in the same table and in the same record. What is the best practice for doing this? Thanks in advance John-Smith Long Join this group Popular White Pap

How to Use Error Handling Options and Techniques in Informatica PowerCenter +2 votes 2,075 views Informatica PowerCenter is given with a set of options to take care of the error handling in your ETL Jobs. Error Handling Functions We can use two functions provided by Informatica PowerCenter to define our user defined error capture logic. ERROR (): This function causes the PowerCenter Integration Service to skip a row and issue an error message, which you define. The error message displays in the session log or written to the error log tables based on the error logging type configuration in the session. You can use ERROR in Expression transformations to validate data. Generally, you use ERROR within an IIF or DECODE function to set rules for skipping rows. Ex: IIF (TRANS_DATA > SYSDATE, ERROR ('Invalid Transaction Date')) Above expression raises an error and drops any record whose transaction data is greater than the current date from the ETL process and the target table. ABORT (): Stops the session, and issues a specified error message to the session log file or written to the error log tables based on the error logging type configuration in the session. When the PowerCenter Integration Service encounters an ABORT function, it stops transforming data at that row. It processes any rows read before the session aborts. You
