I originally hooked my cable to the router and it gave me a message saying, "an ethernet cable is not connected". Make sure you've not plugged the PS3 into the uplink/ADSL port. Get a new cable. Or try using wireless and seeing if that works. Check the colour order of the wires on each end of the cable, if they're in a different order you have a crossed wire cable. Either that or you've bent the cable too much and it doesn't work now.
