There is a red X by: Microsoft Exchange System Management Tools Microsoft Exchange Domain Preparation Microsoft Exchange Forest Preparation Microsoft Exchange Messaging and Collaboration Services The error for each is: An unexpected error occurred. ID no: 8000ffff Microsoft Exchange Setup Exchange 2007 is working and is operating. If I have the Exchange 2003 server turned off, everything works fine still, including browsing public folders. So I believe that I have did everything that I need to do to transfer all of he roles over to 2007, I have followed many documents and got through some errors. I encountered an error before the ones listed above about having a bridgehead server assigned. I removed the routing group connector on the Exchange 2007 server that points to the exchange 2003 server and got past that. I transfered the public folders and mailboxes over. I have the public folder store deleted, I also have the default store deleted. Maybe that was a bad thing to do, but I figure it wasn't going to hurt.
uninstalling Exchange 2000 I got the following prompt appear:Every I clicked on in the showed the following error:Setup failed while (error 0x8000FFFF: An unexpected error occurred.) .Additional information:An unexpected error occurred.ID no: 8000ffffMicrosoft Exchange SetupFunction:CComExchSetupComponent::HrPromptForCDIfNecessaryCComExchSetupComponent::InstallI have uninstalled Exchange 2000 many times through Add and Remove programs and never had this before - really weird. The fix for this was to run the exchange setup application of the exchange 2000 CD under D:\Setup\i386\setup.exe, and selecting remove for all exchange components. An MCSE came in, who works with ACCPAC, to install Ver 5.2, exchange system which interacts with IBM DB/2. Due to his limited skills and knowledge, which came out, he renamed the server to SERVERHALD without removing Exchange 2003, thus leaving exchange very unhappy. He then tried by demoting the server via dcpromo, deleted the folder EXCHSRVR, then recreated the domain. However, the system still has users named IUSR_600 SERVER and IWAM_600SERVER.Exchange will not install, the Component Messages are an unexpected error occured, ID no. 8000ffff, for exchange system manager all of exchange, ie system management tools, exchange messaging and collaboration service, exchange domain preparation and exchange forest preperation. To top it off, he has heavily modified the system, installing DB/2 and convertig all the ACCPAC files, and did not make a backup prior to working on the system. The system had only been live for one week, with everything working smoothly as a server, prior to him coming in and attempting to do his stuff. All the users have been deleted, (dcpromo demotion), do not want to have to reinstall ACCPAC, or reformat the system.Any ideas, help would be appreciated on getting Exchange working. The MCSE and the company he works for are no longer welcome in our office. Thanks! My suggestion is you hire a good experienced consultant with plenty of years in the field (instead of a Paper MCSE)to come help you clean up the mess which the other guy created. We had purchased two new servers and installed Server 2003 on each. x64 for Exchange 2007 and x32 for Logon/Data. Since we couldn't move directly from Exchange 2000 to 2007 we installed Exchange 2003 on the logon/data server and thought we could mount the old 2000 databases then migrate to 2007. Databases corrupt so that didn't work. Exchange 2003 was partially removed to allow the install of Exchange 2007 on the x64 server. Got that up and running and everything is working great. Only problem is our AV software and Exchange 2007 still sees the Exchange 2003.I'm now trying to remove Exchange 2003 completely. When I go to add/remove programs I can select Exchange the remove. I select the remove action and it asks for the disk to be loaded into the CD drive. I load the Exchange 2003 disk and let it run through the setup. After it decides to fail on all the tasks it comes back with the following errorAn unexpected error occurred.ID no: 8000ffffMicrosoft Exchange SetupThis happens on each of the following tasks.Microsoft Exchange System Management ToolMicrosoft Exchange Domain PreparationMicrosoft Exchange Forest PreparationMicrosoft Exchange Messaging and Collaboration ServicesAny one got any ideas what is causing the error and/or how to get round it.Many ThanksRobert RE: Removing Exchange 2003 Error bo
