Following the Exmerge, i delete the connection between the AD user object and the mailbox by using Exchange tasks in Active Directory.I then run the cleanup agent on my mailstores and purge the mailboxes. This has been working fine for nearly 100 mailboxes, but i have an issue with 2 specific mailboxes. When i try to purge these two mailboxes i get the following error: "The operation cennot be oerformed because this mailbox was already connected to an existing user"ID no: C1034ad6Exchange System Manager.Any ideas? I try manually run the "Start Mailbox Management Process" http://www.martijn-lammerts.com/portal/content/error-cannot-purge-mailbox and the "Run Cleanup Agent" but it not solve the error. Start Exchange System Manager Open 'Administrative groups' Select the correct administrative group Open the serve and browseto the First Storage Group. Open First Storage Group. He returned back and we had to move his mailbox to India server. We tried it and got the following error message: The Operation cannot be performed because this mailbox was already reconnected to an existing user. ID no. c1034ad6 Exchange System Manager I searched internet and got options but not sure which to try: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930363 http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=109992&SiteID=1 http://ukstokes.com/blog/2006/08/07/how-to-purge-an-orphaned-mailbox/ I dont want to go wrong as its my Manager's exchange system manager mailbox. The mailbox was moved from Exch 2003 to Exch 2003. First it was moved from India(A) server to US(A) server. We first scheduled the move back to India(A) and got the above error. We see the entry of the mailbox with a RED X mark on the India Server ,but the mailbox is still on the US(A) server. After checking options, when I tried to purge it gives another error stating: the operation cannot be performed because this mailbox was already reconnected to an existing user My Manager is presently accessing the mailbox from the US server. My confusion is if I try the above links and remove the Exchange Attributes , is it going to cause any problem. I need to move his ASAP Please suggest a best possible way to resolve this issue. Here i played little workaround: > Ran cleanup agent > It was showing one mailbox connected and another one disconnected > Creat
same storage group on Exchange 2003. The move process caused the transaction logs to fill up the partition that the logs are housed, shutting down the mailstore while in the middle of the move (I knowmy bad). After cleaning up the drive I was able to mount all the stores, and then run a full backup to clear the transaction logs. The after effects of this are that there are now two mailboxes for each of the users that were being moved when the process was interrupted. The users are connected to the mailboxes that were in the mailstore that was the original source and are able to send and receive mail. In the target mail store, the four mailboxes exist but show as disconnected. I do need to recover the mail that exists in the orphaned / disconnected mailboxes. I created a user without a mailbox and figured that I would connect these mailboxes to this user one by one, then extract all the mail in the mailbox to a pst file, and import that mail back into the mailboxes connected to the users. However, when I try to connect any of the orphaned mailboxes to the newly created user I receive the following error message: The operation can not be performed because this mailbox was already connected to an existing user ID no: c1034ad6 Exchange System Manager Any ideas on how I can get these orphaned mailboxes connected to the generic user I created to recover the mail, or another method of recovering the mail that is contained within would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide. August 7th, 2009 6:57pm Are you sure that data is missing in original mailbox? Because Exchange deletes the data after completion of full mailbox move and your moves wasinterruptedin betweenso I think original mailbox is at no loss... However you can not connect to the orphaned mailbox because guid of that mailbox will be same as original and while connecting itdefinitelygives this error that mailbox is already connected...Amit Tank | MVP Exchange Server | MCITP: EMA | MCSA: M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.co
