If any one has any suggestions I would love to hear them! The Problem: I have all of the main symptoms of a failed camshaft sensor. The error code, 65 camshaft is picked up by the carsoft diagnostics, when cleared it comes straight back when the engine is started. What I have tried to solve the problem: Checking the old camshaft, i found that the wires were all http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?1858912-Camshaft-Sensor-BMW-328i-1996 in short circuit. The isolation of every wire crumbled in my hands, showing a short circuit of every wire. The sensor was completely bad. I have checked engine grounds I have had the DME tested, no faults found. (using car soft). The car is running ok. Not good as it should but, is ok. The thing I have noticed that is not what I expected is the voltage on the camshaft sensor pins, with the plug disconnected and with the ignition on. They are 0v 2.5v and ground. I expected these to be 5v or 12v, 5v and ground for the hall sensor to work. Is this sensor a hall sensor or a magnetic one? The other thing that i noticed, i that when i was trying to measure voltages from the pins 1 to 3 with a digital multimeter, and touched the pin number 1 i heard some relay working from fuse box and some noise (like relays too) coming from the injectors region. I've also watched the video from youtube showing how to test the camshaft sensor, but was from a BMW e46. And the sensor were different form my car. I'm afraid of getting a new one and replace, before knowing that my ECU is working and not short circuited, so it can burn the new camshaft sensor. I am fairly sure that the ECU is OK, can you think of a reason what may cause these readings, (if they ar

It sounds like whichever shop you are using is not up to the task. Second suggestion is to post the year and model of the car and specifically which engine you have so that someone here might be of more help.
