Could this have been caused by the IE Flash Player for Windows 8.1 for 64-based Systems KB3087916 that was installed today? The popup has a "dismiss...." or something to that effect, option as well. Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features\Installed Updates and click on kb3087916 and then click uninstall. Some people would say you need to boot windows in safe mode to do this. I would recommend you do this if it makes you feel safer, but this is the problem update - I haven't had the error since. Windows will keep trying to install this update until hell freezes over, so go into control panel/windows update and select the "Download updates but let me choose" option. Windows will not then automatically install updates that cause problems should then give you the option of unchecking the problem one. Regards, Shadow.
