I tried to make the simplest repro case, so for example I get WBEM_E_ACCESS_DENIED whenever I try to enumerate the list of "Win32_OperatingSystem" objects. I apologize for sending this request here, I may just have a generic WMI problem. Actually, my problem may be a change to default security settings in Server 2008, so really it may be related to Server 2008.
1. I have completely turned off the firewall on the Server 2008 machine. 2. I grant all DCOM remote access permissions to all users. I also grant all DCOM remote launch and activation permissions to all users. I followed the instructions in "Securing a Remote WMI Connection", http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa393266(VS.85).aspx 3. I set the permissions on individual WMI namespaces for local Administrators. I specifically enabled remote access, but also everything all controls for local Administrators for the Root, CIMv2, and ms_409 nodes. I followed the directions in "Setting Namespace Security with the WMI Control", at http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa393613(VS.85).aspx Still, I get the WBEM_E_ACCESS_DENIED error. Here is the code I am trying. Background: System - Toshiba Strategy ES CIX/CTX Phone SystemOS - Windows 2000 Server SP4Toshiba Manager - Strata eManager 4.00My original issue had to do with a blank web page displayed when firing up eManager. This was fine previously but all of a sudden the blank https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/c8d4a103-2b11-4b3b-8ef2-cf78e8ddcd3a/wbemeaccessdenied-with-the-hyperv-wmi-apis?forum=servervirtualization web page came up. I would uninstall eManager and the MSDE database reinstall but after a day or so, usually after a reboot, the problem emerged again.I finally found a MSKB note on this (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297989) and after expecting the VBScript Synciwam.vbs as instructed, I was able to get back into eManager. However, now when I attempt to connect http://sundance-communications.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/193511/WBEM_E_Access_Denied to my equipment I get the WBEM_E_Access_Denied error. I don't want to have to go through re-installing this again so any advice.P.S. I found the SNMP service was not running on the server at the time of these issues. Should it be? But the API AddObjectByPath(), to add the Processor object to the refresher fails returning WBEM_E_ACCESS_DENIED which means there is some problem with the security settings. CoInitializeSecurity also returns RPC_E_TOO_LATE.... But if I try to access the WMI class from a normal exe application instead of from a COM component, it works fine...What could be the reason? Can anybody pls help?????? Thanks, meenu Reply With Quote May 26th, 2006,09:07 AM #2 Krishnaa View Profile View Forum Posts Visit Homepage Microsoft MVP Power Poster Join Date Aug 1999 Location
