I have read numerous complaints regarding this error, as I have begun my search in an effort to resolve this new problem I have on both of my computers generic host since I have installed SP2 for WinXP Pro on them. The problem is apperently very widespread, and people seem to be experiencing different symptoms, and nobody seems to have the same advice for a resolution. What changed on my computers before I started getting this error? I installed SP 2 on them. One installation was done via download from generic host process the MS Update web site, the other from the CD they mailed to me. When I boot my computer(s) and log in for the first time, a window appears telling me that "Data Execution Prevention" (DEP) has prevented a program from starting that could possibly contain malicious code. "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services" is the culprit, a code published by Microsoft Corporation -! The subsequent multiple error messages are the generic XP messages indicating that "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services" encountered a problem and needed to be closed. Please send Microsoft....... If I send the error report to Microsoft, the error repeats. If I don't, I only get it once There is some other occasional strange behavior on only one of these computers (not repeatable and random) since I installed SP2, but otherwise both of the computers apparently run normally after closing the error messages at log in. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Aroldo More about : log error generic host process win32 services Anonymous 14 March 2005 22:
