If those answers do not fully address your question, please ask a new question. If your MBR were erased, GRUB would not run at all. What is happening here is that the MBR code is running, and has been told to look on the partition with the UUID of 58abf29c... for the configuration menu. Most likely, this was the partition you erased, so it doesn't exist anymore. The easiest way to fix it would be to download the grub boot repair CD, which will probably fix it automatically. –Marty Fried May 29 '12 at 16:22 A complete answer is here askubuntu.com/questions/125428/… –Bryce Nov 11 '13 at 17:58 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 14 down vote accepted Re-install your GRUB. When I clicked on "okay", the message just appeared again and did not let me continue. - Thus I un-installed ubuntu 11.04 again in Windows 7 (using the Windows 7 system tools to un-install programs) 2) Second try - In a second attempt I first deleted the before newly made partition (i.e. I told windows to let this space free, can't remember how that was called actually, this partition was un-used now however, and had no letter anymore) and followed the following step-by-step explanation how to install ubuntu: http://blog.sudobits.com/2011/04/23/...rom-usb-or-cd/ - The installation worked well, then it told me to re-boot to finish the installation - My computer did not shut down proper
