I have also tried disabling forms based authentication on the exchange http virtual server. I have scoured this forum but haven't found a solution that has worked yet. Background: I am running ISA http://forums.isaserver.org/OWA_2003_-_HTTP_500_Internal_Server_Error/m_2002049006/tm.htm 2006 Std on Windows Server 2003 Std SP2. The exchange server is 2003 enterprise, on windows 2003 enterprise SP1. The certificate was generated byour internalenterprise CA. The exchange server was previously setup on another site and has been relocated to our new office, no network details changed in this transition. OWA was working at the previous office (simple SPI firewall used). Server running ISA was added to the domain after ISA was installed. Whenever I browse webmail.xxx.co.uk the only page I am presented with is the dreaded http 500 internal server error. Could anyone point me in the right direction or provide a starting point for monitoring? Thanks, Chris Post #: 1 Featured Links* RE: OWA 2003 - HTTP 500 Internal Server Error - 17.Jul.2007 8:38:29 AM tshinder Posts: 50013 Joined: 10.Jan.2001 From: Texas Status: offline The 500 error suggests a problem with the certificates. What is the subject name on the Exchange Server certificate? What is the name on the TO tab of the Web Publishing Rule? All the Exchange 2003 services start fine. This is our setup: We have 1 Exchange 2003 Server installed as Front End with SSL Certificate. We have another Exchange Server Back End in a Cluster with all the mailboxes/Public Folders on the backend server. All are running on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise SP1. Exchanger Servers have SP2. OWA works fine on the backend servers no problem. http 500 internal We get the SSL login prompt ok, but then get the "HTTP 500 Internal Server Error". We downloaded and performed every step in the MS KB Article 823159 which addresses this issue but nothing has resolved the problem. We've read almost every post on this problem and cant seem to figure it out. I unmounted the mailboxes and remounted. There is no DMZ, everything is on the same network and subnet and pingable. Remember backends are on a clustrer. Any suggestions Please? THANKS! In this scenario, when a user tries to access a mailbox by using Outlook Web Access, HTTP requests into the clustering API by impersonating the logged-on user. However, there have been security changes in Windows Server 2003 SP1. The security restrictions for the APIs that perform remote registry access have been changed. Therefore, the logon attempt is not success

Solved HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error OWA Exchange 2003 Posted on 2013-05-28 Exchange Microsoft IIS Web Server Windows Server 2003 1 Verified Solution 30 Comments 3,065 Views Last Modified: 2013-06-05 Hello everyone, I've got myself quite the problem, I've been trying to figure this one out for weeks. I am speaking, as the title implies, of OWA on Exchange 2003 running on Small Business Server 2003. What was happening when the problem first occurred is that certain users would get an HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server error when trying to log in. When investigating things I noticed that this would only occur on user's whose mail box said that the user was the last one to log into the mailbox, and on the ones where it would actually work, such as the administrator account, it would say that it was last accessed by "NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM". During my troubleshooting I tried the following methods in the links below to no avail. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894965 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;829167 Tried uninstalling Exchange Update 926666 as stated was the solution by a poster in this thread - http://forums.msexchange.org/m_1800431832/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm#1800488577 , the reference for the update is - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926666/ At first this appeared to have worked, but it started messing up the following day, I discovered that restarting the HTTP SSL service would get it to work again, this lasted for 2 days, but that also stopped working and I'm back to square one, I checked to see if it had automatically reinstalled the update but its still gone I've tried nearly every permutation of directory security on all 6 of the virtual directories. I have also tried this as there were some active sync errors as well - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;817379 That a
