PHP works on it just fine - as I have other wordpress sites running. However, this site comes up with: 500 - Internal server error. There is a problem with the http://stackoverflow.com/questions/26064028/500-internal-server-error-on-iis7-5-running-php-website resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed. Which is virtually useless - obviously. Which log file on the virtual server should I look in to help figure this out? Or is there a PHP setting in wp-config or similar, that will output a sensible error message? I can't run the website locally on the server - that seems to be locked down. php windows iis iis-7.5 share|improve this question edited Sep 26 '14 at 18:00 David Mulder 12.6k62261 asked Sep 26 '14 at 16:20 Mark 3,2231152107 This can be caused by a faulty redirection rule, I ran into one recently with a joomla installation on IIS8.1 check the web.config file or if you can disable the url rewrite in wp config and delete or rename web.config file –Laci K Sep 26 '14 at 16:31 Thank you for your help. When I run "C:\PHP> php -info" I get this error: "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is in correct. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail." When I browse to http://localhost/phpinfo.php, I get a 500 - Internal Server Error I've done the following: 1. Install the CGI Role 2. Downloaded PHP 5.3 VC9 x86 Non Thread Safe and extracted it to C:\PHP 3. Renamed php-info-production.ini to php-info.ini 4. Amended php-info.ini as per this article: http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/246/using-fastcgi-to-host-php-applications-on-iis-7/ 5. Created the handler mappings in IIS 6. I forgot to mention that I had installed the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x64) but it seems as though I was meant to install the x86 version instead.
