LOL. After doing some online research via google it turns out what I'm experiencing is a so called Windows 1721 error. itunes won't update to latest version It would be nice if windows actually told me that that's what it is, and for that matter which program is the "required" program, but it doesn't. After some additional research, someone suggested that the program in question is Apple Software Update and the proposed solution was to "repair" that program in "Programs" under the Control Panel. I did that, and finally both Quicktime and iTunes were able to install.Other suggestions that didn't seem to make any difference were to turn off the firewall and virus protection software. Thanks Mike!Mike Helpful (1) Reply options Link to this post by b noir, b noir Sep 10, 2012 2:19 PM in response to mduquesnay Level 9 (72,129 points) Sep 10, 2012 2:19 PM in response to mduquesnay Glad you got things sorted out, Mike, and many thanks for reporting back with your resolution. You've got things pretty well covered for them, but just in case it's of help for other folks with the issue here's a link to a user tip on the issue:"There is a problem with this Windows Installer package ..." error messages when installing iTunes for Windows Helpful (0) Reply options Link to this post by narhenry, narhenry Jun 11, 2015 10:54 AM in response to mduquesnay L

Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes also sometimes doesn't completely solve the problem, and although the software may appear to install itunes work correctly, Windows Error 127 will persist.Common Reasons for Seeing This Error MessageYou may see one of these messages after installing iTunes or running an update on iTunes to the latest version:"iTunes was not installed correctly, Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows Error 127)""Entry Not Found" followed by "iTunes Error 7 (Windows Error 127)""iTunes point of entry not found"This is a common error message you may see after iTunes on windows 10 has failed or aborted an installation. You may also see references to "corefoundation.dll" and a number of other DLL files that are installed or updated during the iTunes installation process. The reason these messages are displayed is because Apple Application Support, a feature of Apple software, has become damaged or corrupt. It's also possible that some DLL files associated with Apple Application Support have also been damaged. Because this service is common to many Apple products including iTunes, QuickTime, Mobile Me, and other related software, uninstalling one program and reinstalling may not fix the issue.Solutions - How to Solve Windows Error 127In order to solve Windows Error 127, you may need to uninstall all software by Apple. The best way to do this is by going to add/remove programs from the control panel. Choose the first Apple product on the list and uninstall it.
