Advertisement eyelinerbunnie Thread Starter Joined: Apr 23, 2008 Messages: 11 I recently reinstalled my operating system and everything was going smoothly when I noticed that my Internet connection will turn from Green (connected) to Yellow (not connected). When I open up the Intel PROSet/Wireless program (Version 11.5.0.0) I try to reconnect to my connection only to have it give me this error message: "Problem applying profile!" The only way to fix it so far has been to restart my computer. This happens at various times (sometimes within 5 minutes or 5 hours). I have tried multiple things: 1) In CONTROL PANEL select "Add Or Remove Programs." Then find the Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Software, Select the CHANGE/REMOVE button, Then click on the "Repair" option and then press NEXT. 2) I also tried the fix on here: http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-022793.htm But nothing seems to work! I have heard I need to set my wireless device up so it's controlled by windows but I am not sure how to do that. My wireless router is a Qwest 2Wire Gateway 2700HG-D I am running Windows XP SP2 Media Center Edition on Dell Inspiron E1505. I am getting desperate! eyelinerbunnie, May 2, 2008 #1 Sponsor TerryNet Terry Moderator Joined: Mar 23, 2005 Messages: 71,966 Do you have the latest driver and Proset utility for the Intel adapter from your PC manufacturer's web site? If not, get it, uninstall the current utility, and install the correct one. If the adapter is the 2200bg I think that the Intel utility works better with it than WZC does, but it doesn't hurt to try WZC. I definitely got the newest utility from the Dell website (

Intel ProSet "problems applying profile" Started by vayshti , Mar 25 2011 04:41 AM Please log in to reply #1 vayshti Posted 25 March 2011 - 04:41 AM vayshti Member Member 40 posts My Dell Inspiron 6400 has been using Intel Proset Wireless (currently version 11.5.0.0, driver 11.5.0.32) since I bought it in http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/297775-intel-proset-problems-applying-profile/ 2006. I've had a new ISP since December, but my problem only has been happening recently (last few weeks), and I've not actively changed anything. I'll be noodling along on my home connection and it will suddenly drop out. There is no obvious regularity to the drop outs. Proset still lists a bunch of connections, including my own, as visible and available. However when I try to connect, it gives me a "Problem Applying Profile!" box, and will not connect. I'm currently having to reboot my computer when this happens to reconnect. Please let me know what other information you need to help solve this. Thanks! 0 Advertisements #2 Troy Posted 25 March 2011 - 07:03 AM Troy Tech Staff Technician 8,839 posts Try uninstalling and reinstalling the program. Or better yet, just install the latest version of the drivers and don't actually use the PROSet software. Windows has very good built in wireless connection software to connect and manage wifi connections. Also another thought, do other computers do this also or just your own? 0 #3 vayshti Posted 25 March 2011 - 07:34 AM vayshti Member Topic Starter Member 4

It intel proset error has recently started giving me the error message "Problem applying profile" when I try to connect to a network. Sometimes when I reboot the computer the problem goes away until I change networks. I've tried deleting all the wireless profiles and re-adding them (home and work), but this doesn't seem to solve the problem. I've also tried upgrading to the latest version (11.5.0.0) that's available from the Dell support site. I go to my Intel Proset wireless utility and try to connect to my network and it gives me the dialogue box "problem applying profile".I have tried restarting the computer, router, and modem and none of that worked as a quick fix. I also tryed to go into my control panel -> add/remove programs -> intel proset wireless -> repair. But when I do that it never finishes the repair. It gets stuck at about 20% through. Thank you in advance. Post a reply Discussion is locked Flag Permalink You are posting a reply to: Int
