At start up, enter the set up (usually press F1, F2 or Del during POST) and see if the drive is identified in the BIOS. If it's not, chances are that the drive is dead (assuming that nothing else has changed). Shouldn't cost over $100 for you to do it yourself. A new cheap computer will probably out perform a old expensive one and will have Windows 7. To resolve this issue try to reset the drive." How do I do this? I have the original hard drive installed, it also says there are no bootable devices. How do I solve these problems with my laptop? I have no disks for reinstalling drives.
