I wanted to use Admin Tools to upgrade my site from Joomla 1.7.0 to 1.7.3. On accessing Admin Tools last night, it correctly highlighted that the upgrade was available so I clicked on the option to upgrade. This quickly returned the message : "ERROR : AJAX Loading Error : Internal Server Error" So no upgrade took place?. In the forum I read that "Fixing permissions" might resolve matters so I tried this but got the error message : "Internal Server Error" Then on trying to access the website (at www.tasteincorporated.co.uk), no site was available ..... just "500 Internal Server Error" I spoke to my host this morning and they said there is a problem over file permissions being set to 644 when they should be 750. They also made a change to the .htaccess file which made the website available (they commented out Options +FollowSymLinks). However I have no access to my "admin" site (www.tasteincorporated.co.uk/administrator). Also permissions are still set incorrectly according to my host. What would your advice be?. Should I just restore to original site at 1.7.0? (and then do the upgrade manually?) Do you know why the Admin Tools upgrade process is returning an AJAX e

Joomla Core Update AJAX Loading Error 3 years 11 months ago #57260 heart0 OFFLINE Posts: 808 I'm curious if this has something to do with another issue I'm having on the site. I'm using Aceshop for the store - which I use on all of my sites and this is the first time I'm having this issue. But Aceshop isn't saving anything that I'm doing. It won't let me add categories, products or when I going into settings and fill out the settings section, and then try to save it, I get a "timeout request". I contacted Aceshop and here was their response: "It seems that you have server problems in your site. The server is answering too late meaning that there may be a problem in bandwidth allocated for your site. Please contact your server administration to solve this issue." I'm using GoDaddy for this site...which I use for the majority of my joomla sites and haven't ever had that issue before. Does it make sense though, that that could be the problem? If so, what exactly do I tell GoDaddy when I call them? Blessings, ~Anita Please become a member of OSTraining to reply to this post. Here's a good tutorial: www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/admin-too...nd-file-permissions/ If that doesn't help then I'd recommend that you get help directly from the developer, Nicholas, of Admin Tools. He's a genius and really knows his stuff especially his extensions. You'll need a forum access subscription but it's only about $10 so far worth it: www.akeebabackup.com/pro-services/subscribe/levels.html Kind regards, Nick Follow us on Twitter - twitter.com/OSTraining Like us on Facebook - facebook.com/ostraining Please become a member of OSTraining to reply to this post. Php config settings (memory_limit, max_execution_time etc) all are set at adequate values, so they shouldn't be a problem. This seemed to be a problem caused by the hosting provider's malware scanner. The restore.php script ('administrator/components/com_joomlaupdate/restore.php') is missing and causing this error - also shown in the browser's console as: Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found) I know about this hosting provider malware that is deleting other essential files from Joomla core and extensions - I had faced similar issues with K2, Akeeba BackUp and other extensions in the past. So, doing a Google Search about this issue, it seems that other users in other hosting providers face similar issues, and they can't find what's wrong. In such case - and after checking for the other common possible causes, like file permissions and php settings, th
