Check if your application is handling null values, or else check with the server support. –Ramesh PVK Apr 2 '12 at 8:36 3 "HTTP 500 internal server error" is an overly generic message that the server has a problem processing the request. This is in turn usually caused by a bug in the server side code. This information is visible in the server logs, usually in flavor of an exception and a stacktrace. You, as a developer, should pay attention to this exception. Just telling "I got a 500 error" is absolutely not helpful. –BalusC Apr 2 '12 at 14:10 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote accepted It is because you are trying to parse "" with Integer.parseInt Check Integer parseInt() API When you do not pass any values Like below http://localhost:8080/file.jsp?arg1=&arg2= Empty string will be passed in http request parameters. So, better put empty check when parsing integer from string. int arg2 = !"".equals(request.getParameter("arg2")) ? Integer.parseInt(request.getParameter("arg2")): 0; share|improve this answer edited Apr 2 '12 at 10:00 answered Apr 2 '1

JSP Troubleshooting The following sections describe several techniques for debugging your JSP files: Debugging Information in the Browser Symptoms in the Log File Debugging Information in the Browser The most useful feature for debugging your JSP pages is the output that is sent to the browser by default. This output displays the location of the error in the generated HTTP servlet Java file, a description of the error, and the approximate location of the error code in the original JSP file. For example, when a compilation fails, the following message is displayed in the browser: To disable this mechanism, set the verbose attribute to false in the jsp-descriptor element, in the WebLogic-specific deployment descriptor of your Web Application. Error 404--Not Found Check that you have typed the URL of the JSP file correctly, and that it is relative to the root directory of your Web Application. Error 500--Internal Server Error Check the WebLogic Server log file for error messages, and see Page Compilation Failed Errors on page2. This error usually indicates a ClasssNotFound exception has occured during JSP compilation. Error 503--Service Unavailable Indicates that WebLogic Server cannot find the compiler it requires to compile your JSPs. For more information about defining a JSP compiler, see "jsp-descriptor section, available. Errors Using the
