That's what happened to me. I recently changed my Yahoo password and started receiving the error you cited in your post ("Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server pop.mail.yahoo.com responded:invalid user/password"). I went back to the old password and everything was fine. The issue seems to have been with the new password. It was only 8 characters long and apparently needed to be 10. I changed the password to one that was 10 characters long and everything worked just fine. Interestingly, Yahoo accepted the 8 character password without a problem, both when I changed it and when I logged into webmail. It was only with Thunderbird that the password was not acceptable. So, I don't think it violated any of Yahoo's password rules. I'm wondering if Thunderbird somehow did not replace the old 10 character with just the 8 character password, but, instead, just replaced the first 8 characters of the old password. This would result in an incorrect password (and also seems like a simple mistake a developer might make). But, I didn

An Error Occurred With The Pop3 Mail Server Thunderbird
happens in stages. Different things can go wrong at each stage, so frontier email each stage has different error messages. When a connection fails, Thunderbird provides you with up to three pieces of mozilla thunderbird information about the failure. If you have to ask for support (for example, in a forum or from a helpdesk), ensure that you provide all the information: The status message in Thunderbird's http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=552502 status bar. This tells you the stage that Thunderbird reached when the error occurred. The error message provided by Thunderbird. An embedded message from the server. Thunderbird includes this in its error message. Note: If an error message shows the server name as "localhost", it usually means that you are using a webmail extension or an anti-virus program. In this case the error http://kb.mozillazine.org/Connection_errors_-_POP3 might be coming from that program, not from the real server. [edit] Lookup Thunderbird looks up the POP3 server's name to find its network address (IP address). The lookup service (DNS) is usually provided by your ISP as part of your Internet connection. The status message at this stage is "Looking up..." Failed to connect to server server name. The server does not exist (but it might exist when you are connected to some other network). You typed the server name wrongly. (Even an extra space can make it fail.) Your ISP's DNS is broken. Try disconnecting and reconnecting, or contact your ISP.
