I am trying to make it work since 8 and getting crazy, trying with a fresh version downloaded from the cakePHP website. Here is my configuration. A subdomain pointing to a directory : subdomain.mydomain.com => /subdirectory So I think the first question is, on the view of my app, is that a subdirectory ? I don't think so but I am not sure. I tried hundreds of .htaccess configurations, nothing works, I get a 500 error or the following message: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '=', expecting '(' in /homepages/41/d201409564/htdocs/hire/lib/Cake/bootstrap.php on line 173 I thought that topic would fix my problem, but still not working. Thanks for your help .htaccess cakephp share|improve this question edited Nov 12 '15 at 19:10 pnuts 33.7k63569 asked Jan 14 '14 at 15:58 nicolecoco02 287 seems you're getting a php error and not a .htaccess one. Something seems to be wrong in bootstrap.php file. This is strange because this is a cakephp file you don't have to modify. Did you modify it? What cakephp version are you using? And what php version? –arilia Jan 14 '14 at 16:21 No it's definitely not a PHP error. It's an untouched core file coming from a fresh install. I am using CakePHP 2.4.4 Stable and PHP 5.5 –nicolecoco02 Jan 14 '14 at 16:24 just for my curiosity: what do you have in bootstrap.ph

The issue is, in some servers cakephp seems to return a 500 Internal Server Error, even when the same software works in most other servers. This has become an issue because apparently the error is now appearing in GoDaddy servers, which, being the most common http://stackoverflow.com/questions/28032107/cakephp-i-keep-getting-500-internal-server-error-messages-with-the-occasional server, is what I would expect many of our customers to use. Also I know this isn't a coding issue since the error will appear both with our software and with new, empty cakePHP packages as downloaded from here. That said, I have already tried changing the .htaccess files to fit what described here, to no avail. As of this moment the .htaccess files for the test (codeless, should only output a cakephp release notes page) install look like this: The one on /caketest/ (That's the subfolder I'm installing on):
sites are hosted on 1&1. When I tried to install CakePHP it failed miserably, giving me 500 server errors and generally not playing ball. I http://articles.classoutfit.com/setting-up-cakephp-on-a-11-server/ did some searching on the internet, and this is the answer I found. https://groups.google.com/d/topic/cake-php/jepb9H_QPzA I have adapted it slightly from this site (thanks). Essentially, you add the line RewriteBase / into the .htaccess files in the root, /app/ and /app/webroot/. 1. Upload your Cake files to the root of your site. 2. Try to open it and it will not work. 3. Edit internal server the .htaccess file in the root to:
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^$ app/webroot/ [L]
RewriteRule (.*) app/webroot/$1 [L]
4. Edit the .htaccess file in /app/ to:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^$ /webroot/ [L]
RewriteRule (.*) /webroot/$1 [L]
5. Edit the .htaccess file in /app/webroot/ internal server error to:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php?url=$1 [QSA,L]
That's it - it fixed it for me and Cake worked as expected (subject to completing the usual installation tasks). Before trying to set up Cake I had problems getting PHP5 to function on my 1&1 server. Here's how I fixed it. Tags: 1&1, CakePHP, PHP About Jeremy Burns 7 Comments Log in to Reply New to CakePHP Posted December 9, 2009 at 2:33 AM Thank you for this post.
