support • Easy setup (we can even do it for you!) 500 Internal Server Error ...and how to fix it. The short answer: this is usually a permissions error http://forum.directadmin.com/showthread.php?t=10955 on your CGI script, which is easy to fix. Go to your FTP client, or your website file manager, and highlight or right-click on the CGI script. Then choose Properties, or Permissions, or "Chmod", and set it to world-executable: that's 0755, or a+rx, or -rwxr-xr-x. Do NOT use 0777 (a+rwx or -rwxrwxrwx). And your cgi-bin directory itself should also be 0755, https://encodable.com/internal_server_error/ not 0777. The long answer: when running a Perl CGI script like FileChucker or UserBase, you may see the "Internal Server Error" message in your browser. The message will usually also say something like "please check the server's error-log for more information." You should do that -- the message printed to the error log will often tell you exactly what the problem is. The Apache error log, for example, is often located at /var/log/apache/error_log or /var/log/apache2/error_log (or sometimes "error.log"). If you don't have access to the error log, the next simplest thing to do is to make a backup copy of the script, then open the original and delete all of its contents, and add just these 3 lines to the file: #!/usr/bin/perl print "Content-type: text/plain\n\n"; print "testing...\n"; (Note: if the server is a Windows system, then replace the first line above with either #!perl or #!c:\path\to\perl.exe.) Now try to access the page in your browser again. If it works (you see "testing..." as its output) then you know that your server is at least configured properly for

Creating a Contact Form with FormMail Written by Brad Markle Views: 9,962 Published: Jul 25, 2016 Comments: 52 FormMail is a very popular script that you can put onto your website so that visitors can fill it out and have their response emailed directly to you. To help you set up FormMail on your website we have written a step-by-step guide to installing and configuring FormMail: If you missed our previous article, please see the How Contact Forms Work tutorial. Download the "compat" version of theNMS FormMail script. Un-zip the downloaded file and upload the FormMail.pl script to your cgi-bin folder in your public_html folder. Next you will need to modify the FormMail.pl file that was uploaded into your cgi-bin folder. First, you will need to change the @referers line (around line 47). Replace everything inside of the parentheses with your domain using the same formatting, once without the www and then a single space and again with the www. This is where you input any email addresses that th

For this past month I have been trying to get a contact form submitted and sent to an email address. Sounds simple but getting internal server errors. i will try and document as much as I can here. Would be extremely relieved to get this resolved. (formmail.pl) #!/usr/bin/perl (123 reg have informed me this is the path to the perl executable on their server) $mailprog = '/usr/sbin/sendmail -i -t'; (123 reg have infomed me this is the path to their sendmail program) @referers = ('kme-steelworks.co.uk','195.224.48.75',' http://www.kme-steelworks.co.uk','kme-steelworks.com','http://www.kme-steelworks.com'); (i.e. the servers i need this to work on) @recipients = &fill_recipients(@referers,'info@kme-steelworks.co.uk'); (the email address I want the form to go to) I have uploaded (via text) the formmail.pl into a folder on the server called formmail - it has 755 permissions. My contact webpage code - http://www.kme-steelworks.co.uk/contact.html
