How To Catch Internal Server Error In Java
JDBC driver is missing in the runtime classpath. Download and drop MySQL JDBC driver JAR file in /WEB-INF/lib folder. sometime it shows HTTP status 500 error An unhandled exception was been thrown in your Java code. The stacktrace contains the answer to the cause of the problem. You need to catch and handle or to prevent the exception in your Java code. and nothing is displayed. The servletcontainer cannot change the response body because a part of it has already been committed. This can happen if you wrote errorneous Java code in a JSP file (which is part of the response!) instead of in a Java class which is controlled by a Servlet. The server logs should however contain the stacktrace which in turn contains the answer to the cause of the problem. share|improve this answer answered Apr 5 '11 at 13:19 BalusC 684k20824802695 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service. It is the server/application issue. Check if your application is handling http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9972295/http-500-internal-server-error null values, or else check with the server support. –Ramesh PVK Apr 2 '12 at 8:36 3 "HTTP 500 internal server error" is an overly generic message that the server has a problem processing the request. This is in turn usually caused by a bug in the server side code. This information is visible in the server logs, usually in flavor of an exception and a stacktrace. You, as a developer, should pay attention to this exception. Just telling "I got a 500 error" is absolutely not helpful. –BalusC Apr 2 '12 at 14:10 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote accepted It is because you are trying to parse "" with Integer.parseInt Check Integer parseInt() API When you do not pass any values Like below http://localhost:8080/file.jsp?arg1=&arg2= Empty string will be passed in http request parameters. So, better put empty check when parsing integer from string. int arg2 = !"".equals(request.getParameter("arg2")) ? Integer.parseInt(request.getParameter("arg2")): 0; share|improve this answer edited Apr 2 '12 at 10:00 answered Apr 2 '12 at 9:52 Hardik Mishra 10.3k53776 This doesn't cover string values containing non-digits. E.g. arg2=foo. –BalusC Apr 2 '12 at 14:11 @BalusC: I agree but there is a different validation required using regx or pattern matcher
