However, here's a quick stab of some things you should look at: Check if Asp.net is installed on the server. Make sure your app is targeting the proper .Net version that is on the server. Check if all the assemblies your code is using are deployed correctly on the IIS server. Add some exception handling and error logging to your code. In particular, I'd venture to make a wild guess that your page is using some code that requires the IIS7 integrated pipeline and your server is either running IIS6 or is running IIS7 in classic mode. Though this is a stab in the dark and could turn out to be completely wrong. :-) share|improve this answer answered Apr 7 '10 at 4:52 Franci Penov 56.3k1099141 thanks. this was an assembly problem. My computer is WindowXP Pro and IIS 5.1 isinstalled. I made sure all the components of IISare installed. I ticked the World Wide Web Services when I installed the IIS. When I typed http;//localhost on the Internet Explorer 7,Error message comes out so I made myself a default https://forums.iis.net/t/1127251.aspx?ASP+file+with+HTTP+500+Internal+Server+Error html page saying that this is a test page. That is fine. I can get that page. And any html files I created and saved in www.root folder. I can see in the Internet Explorer after typing http;//localhost/anything.html. But as soon as I create an ASP page and saved in www.root folder,HTTP500 Internal Server Error Page cannot displaycomes out in Internet Explorer. Ther are two asp files already in www.root folder I did not make those, they came with IIS. One call iisstart.asp and another call localstart.asp. I typed http;//localhost/iisstart.asp and alsoI typed http;//localhost/localstart.asp but result is the same. HTTP 500 Internal Server Error Page cannot display. When I double clicked the iisstart.asp file in the www.root folder, It opens up with the Dreamweaver and saying as follows. Please try this site again later. If you still experience the problem, try contacting the Web site administrator. When I double clicked the localhost.asp file

You will also see http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/545054/HTTP-500-Internal-server-error in IIS logs, the sc-status sc-substatus sc-win32-status as 500 16 1326. Cause Unknown user name or password configured for the UNC in IIS Metabase. Resolution This “HTTP Error 500 - Internal server error” error occurs only when you have the website or the virtual directory configured for an UNC and it uses specific internal server user name and password to connect to the UNC (not the logon user credentials). Give correct username and password for connecting the UNC share on the IIS Manager -> Website or Virtual Directory properties -> Home Directory or Virtual Directory -> Connect As -> Network Directory Security Credentials window. Alternatively you can also set UNCUserName and UNCPassword properties on IIS Metabase for the website or the virtual directory internal server error when you have this problem.
