Basically, if the subdomain is not included in the URL, I will redirect to the www subdomain. http://mysite.com/file.aspx redirects to http://www.mysite.com/file.aspx http://mysite.com/image.jpg redirects to http://www.mysite.com/image.jpg http://mysite.com/text.html redirects to http://www.mysite.com/text.html How to do this? I do not want to write any HTTP Module -- it must be done thru IIS config only. Also, I am required to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4445285/redirect-to-www-in-iis7-classic-pipeline-mode use Classic Pipeline mode and cannot install any ISAPI plugins. The error details provide almost no information. In general, what should be checked if a static HTML file is throwing that kind of error? iis-7 http share|improve this question asked Dec 3 '09 at 20:33 community wiki Larsenal add a comment| 4 Answers 4 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote HTTP Handler Mappings Recently, some person had dropped in a wildcard script mapper which was messing things up. share|improve this answer answered Dec 3 '09 at 21:27 community wiki Larsenal internal server error This happened to me once - someone added a .html Handler Mapping for the Server Side Include module, although it had not been installed on the server. –frankadelic Aug 18 '10 at 23:31 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote 500 type errors (internal server error) may happen for many reasons. among others: misconfiguration of the server access rights problems ... take a look at this site for a few examples. share|improve this answer answered Dec 3 '09 at 20:59 fin 1312 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote Based on my last go-round with a similar problem: 1) Look in the HTTP logs. You will see a "500 mmm nnn" in for "sc-status sc-substatus sc-win32-status" in the HTTP logs. A "net helpmsg nnn" from the command line may give you results. 2) Add in Failed Request Tracing to your installation, then use an appropriate rule. The XML results may or may not be helpful. 3) If you think this is a security issue, turn on file object auditing in the policy for that server, then set the auditing for the directory and the files within it to have all failures for "Everyone." Check the Security section of the Event Viewer. 4) Try Process Monitor (not Process Explorer). Run Process Monitor for three or so seconds, just long enough to get your request in, and have it fail. Use Failed Request Tracing to get the process ID that failed. Use Process Monitor's filter to show only events where the process ID appears
is a good example of how to do that here: http://www.iis.net/ConfigReference/system.webServer/httpRedirect In the website to be redirected, click on the HTTP Redirect option and add the URL to redirect to. http://www.iis.net/ConfigReference/system.webServer/httpRedirect Note: If you added a new website to IIS just for the purpose of redirected and have lazily pointed it to the same directory path on the server as another site in IIS then everything going to either site will redirect to the new site. This was fine for IIS 6 but not for IIS 7+ To avoid this, you need to create unique path on the server and point the website to that. IIS will then be able to create a config file there and perform the redirect. (Of course IIS will need IUSR permission to read the config file or you will get a 500 error when you go to the URL to be redirected.)
