I receive this HTTP 500 internal server error and then the above error message when I have logged into my insurance companys protected website. I can log into it on my husbands laptop though. I did have some problems with malware awhile back and went through this site to clean it up but I never tried logging https://javaeesupportpatterns.blogspot.de/2012/01/javalangnullpointerexception-how-to.html into this site until recently. I did an update on java before as well. Doesn't make sense that I can log in but when I try to access anything that is when I get the error message, but not when I go through another computer. Any ideas would be appreciated. Also, I have no clue where I should have posted this??? Sorry Thanks for your time. liketolearn, Dec 4, 2009 #1 Sponsor Freemorrison Joined: Nov 29, 2009 Messages: https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-what-is-java-lang-nullpointerexception-error.882911/ 503 Are you using the new internet explorer 7or Chrome or Fire Fox? And your hubbies laptop uses? This may be part of the answer? You may have to uninstall Java - reboot- go and get the free Java , Before you do any of that though, the 1st 2 questions need to be answered? I never had this problem before though. There have been many security updates for 7 though, could that be the cause? We both have java 6.17. Thanks for your help!! liketolearn, Dec 4, 2009 #3 Freemorrison Joined: Nov 29, 2009 Messages: 503 Ok as long as you are sure it's "Internet Explorer 7" that you have this should work- Go to add or remove programs and get rid of your java. Go to www.Java.com and download latest freedownload version. Restart. You are all set. I hope this helps. If you want a good uninstaller to use - that's free there's Revouninstaller http://www.revouninstaller.com/ this will probably do a better clean out than using the Add Or Remove. Also here's the free java site ' and you should go back here to see if it is working after reboot. http://java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml Freemorrison, Dec 4, 2009 #4 liketolearn Thread Star
