500 internal server error [Resolved] MAMP local installation showing 500 internal server error bibliofille @bibliofille 6 months, 3 weeks ago I'm running into issues copying my live site to my local server. I got the files and database up and running, but when https://wordpress.org/support/topic/mamp-local-installation-showing-500-internal-server-error/ I navigate to localhost8888/pitchdesignunion I get a 500 internal server error. When I turned on debug in the wp-config.php file, I got this error: Fatal error: Class 'Memcache' not found in /Users/labedzde/Documents/Sites/pitchdesignunion/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/lib/W3/Cache/Memcached.php on line 38 I https://www.drupal.org/node/224106 went to that line in the file, but I can't figure out what the issue is. Note: the w3 total cache plugin is installed, but NOT active on the live site. Any ideas? Viewing 7 internal server replies - 1 through 7 (of 7 total) Bob Cristello @gntmidnight 6 months, 3 weeks ago Memcache is installed on the server. If you don't have Memcache active in your MAMP, you are going to trigger this error. Since the caching is immaterial during development, I would physically remove the W3 Total Cache. How to Uninstall W3 Total Cache WordPress Plugin How to Remove W3 Total Cache bibliofille @bibliofille 6 months, 3 internal server error weeks ago Makes sense. My only concern would be that I made a local copy of the live site so I could test some new features before pushing the changes live. Would removing the plugin affect any of that? bibliofille @bibliofille 6 months, 3 weeks ago Also, I'd like to keep it running on the live site, but I just want to remove it from the local site. I can't log into the dashboard from the local installation because of the fatal error. Could I just delete the w3 total cache folder from the plugin folder in that local installation? Bob Cristello @gntmidnight 6 months, 3 weeks ago In this case, if the only difference between your live site and your dev site is the use of a caching plugin, that really shouldn't affect anything other than performance. The other option would be to install MemCache on your Mamp server. I think these articles detail the process pretty well. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1879480/mamp-how-to-install-memcached https://www.lullabot.com/articles/setup-a-memcachedenabled-mamp-sandbox-environment bibliofille @bibliofille 6 months, 3 weeks ago I think I'll stick with just deleting w3 total cache for now. I followed the deletion instructions from this tutorial from the "remove files from web server" section onward I'm getting this error message: This site can’t be reached localhost refused to connect. You may download it at below link.http://www.wampserver.com/en/download.php Here are the steps: - make sure the WAMP5 taskbar icon is white - left click the icon and open phpMyAdmin then click "Privileges" to create a new DB. - click "Add a New User" and field out "username: drupal6", "host: localhost", "password: drupal6", "re-type: drupal6" then select " Create database with same name and grant all privileges " and click "Go". - after we are done creating a new DB then we find the WAMP5 installed folder called "www". Create new folder call "drupal6" then extract the drupal6 file
