After tons of detective work, we figured out a fix--at least for ourselves. Note: Doing this will remove any warp doors or rifts you've opened/created. Try going into the world-you-were-playing-on's save folder and deleting the folder "DimensionalDoors." Then delete the files "DimensionalDoorsData," and "DimensionalDoorsDataOld." It's recommended that you back these files up beforehand, but give it a try, it might work. Afterwards, just launch the game, load your wold, open the LAN server, and see if your friend/brother can join. My friend Tyler, whose account is also Legacy (Tylerblaze48), got the same issue tonight (it's like 20 past 8 at night here at the moment). And yet I never get it with my new Mojang minecraft account (made using a Mojang account) –user83574 Jul 31 '14 at 10:19 add a comment| 1 Answer

It has nothing to do with anything you did, mods you may have installed, or an error with your account.Usually, all it means is the server needs a restart. Most likely, other players are experiencing the same issue while trying to join the server.
