I'm calling this web service from http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10305927/web-service-response-returns-a-500-internal-server-error another page, and at that time it returns a 500 Internal Server error. I'm going through this process for the 1st time and do not know what this means or why this happens. A preliminary search on Google shows a wide range of answers, although I couldnt find anything specific. Heres my calling code - List>(responseText); Heres my Web Service Code - [WebService(Namespace = "http://tempuri.org/")] [WebServiceBinding(ConformsTo = WsiProfiles.BasicProfile1_1)] public class MyService: System.Web.Services.WebService { public string GetOutput(string jsonStr) { try { /*code to format jsonStr and send it along to another web

settings on Settings and Configuration page Troubleshooting KB #: 40649 Last Updated: August 22, 2016 Issue Error "Request Failed for VMTemplatesResult: Internal Web Service" when attempting to modify CachePoint settings on Settings and Configuration page Procedure In 2.9.x and possibly earlier, if there are no templates at all in your vSphere environment, you will get a pop-up error when you navigate to the Settings and Configuration page: ----------------- Request Failed for VMTemplatesResult: Internal Web Service error: ' Required property objectSet is missing from data object of type PropertyFilterSpec while parsing serialized DataObject of type vmodl.query.PropertyCollector.FilterSpec at line 1, column 313 while parsing call information for method RetrieveProperties at line 1, column 218 while parsing SOAP body at line 1, column 207 while parsing SOAP envelope at line 1, column 38 while parsing HTTP request for method retrieveContents on object of type vmodl.query.PropertyCollector at line 1, column 0' ------------- When you go to Settings and Configuration, it gets a list of all Template VMs from vSphere so it can populate the CachePoint Settings pulldown and let you choose where the CP Template is. The error message is saying "I looked and you have no template VMs at all". So find the Unidesk download, unpack (if necessary) the CachePoint OVF, and in vSphere, make a new VM from that OVF. Name it something memorable like "CP Template 2.9.x". Convert it to a template in vSphere. You will not longer get the error and you will be able to select and configure your CachePoint settings.
