Joomla 500 Internal Server Error After Migration
500 error with Joomla, when creating an Article up vote 0 down vote favorite When I try to add an article from the administrator section, I get the 500- An error has occurred! DB function reports no errors. It's hard for me to figure this out, when we had someone else set this up for us. The problems seems to be when I try joomla 500 internal server error frontend to add a new page. I can edit existing pages though. I've been trying to add my google calendar using their iframe code. There's already a calendar on there that the web designer added using iframe code. But when I try to add a new one like below: I get the error. When I put the code in the article, I am able to preview it. But when I click on save, that's when the error appears. Now the people we used, will not tell me why this is happening. Instead they want to charge me to fix it, instead of explaining why it's happening and how to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. joomla share|improve this question edited Mar 23 '10 at 19:36 Pekka 웃 304k93700913 asked Mar 23 '10 at 19:33 Iliana 111 On a 500, first take a look into the web server's error.log file. It usually contains detailed information about the error. I have come across stuff like this in Joomla in connection with uploading overly large images to the image gallery. Wi

the problem? Ok here is a solution: First remember this is just one possible solution. It won’t work for everybody. It depends on what is going wrong with your site. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2503005/getting-500-error-with-joomla-when-creating-an-article It should work if this is your problem: Joomla is installed in a folder that is not the root folder of your hosting service. When you turn Joomla SEF (in Global configuration: Search Engine Friendly URLs = YES and Use Apache mod_rewrite = YES) the site breaks and starts showing Error 500 - Internal server error An internal server error has occurred! http://www.andrewbrettwatson.com/index.php/more/joomla-help/506-how-to-fix-internal-server-error-on-joomla-sites-which-are-not-installed-in-the-web-hosting-root The important part there is that in this case, it happens when Joomla is NOT installed in the root directory. So to fix this we have to tell the server to consider the folder where it IS located to be the root folder for Joomla. We do this by editing the .htaccess and looking for the following line: # RewriteBase / and we change it to: RewriteBase / This (effectively) tells the server to consider the root folder for Joomla is the folder that it (.htaccess) is in. If the problem was caused by the location of your Joomla install, this SHOULD work. If it doesn’t work, it is likely that the Internal Server Error is caused by something else, that is to say the Error 500 was due to a different problem. To help better understand the problem try this: Check with a different browser, if you change something and the page has not completely refresh you might get this error Refresh the page (cmd+r on Mac or F5 on windows). Sometimes you just have to wait a
when upgrading to Joomla 2.5 Published on 03 Feb 2012 Joomla, Comments With the new Joomla! 2.5 out, it was time to upgrade my Joomla! 1.7 installation. You have the option to upgrade with a single click but before you do press the button, http://jure-stern.si/blog/what-to-do-if-you-get-joomla-http-500-error/ I advise you to try it on a local copy of your website. It was a smart move to follow when I did the upgrade, after which I was confronted with the scary HTTP 500 (Internal Server Error) message in Google Chrome, whereas https://idealextensions.com/forum/ideal-related-articles/13956-internal-server-error-500.html in Firefox I get an empty screen. Confronting with the error My first reaction was to login into the back-end and check if everything was ok. But to my surprise, when I clicked the Global Configuration button I was confronted with the internal server same scary HTTP 500 error. I then tried to add an article or category, which gave me the same error. Searching for the solution It was a natural choice to look up the error on Google. After some forum posts which described that the cause could be wrong file permissions, I was at the exact same place with a non-working website. I then discovered a post from Brian Teeman on his blog - Upgrading to Joomla 2.5 - Some Warnings. It is a great tutorial for internal server error everyone who is having troubles when upgrading to Joomla 2.5. Unfortunately the steps did not solve my problem. I then tried to disable all 3rd party plugins but after I wanted to open the plugin settings I got the server error. So the only option that was left, was to: Reinstall the working 1.7 version, Disabling all of the 3rd party plugins, Upgrading to version 2.5, And voila, it worked perfectly. So which plugin was the root of the error? It is the Phoca Gallery Plugin, ver. 3.1.2. Now the funny thing is, that if I enable the plugin my page stops working and after that you cannot disable the plugin in the administrator. If you try to get access to the settings of the plugin you get the HTTP 500 error. So the only option to disable the plugin is to go into the database and manually disable it. The table that you are looking for is yourTableSuffix_extensions with the row plg_content_phocagallery. You now need to change the value of the field enabled from 1 to 0. Of course you wont be able to use the gallery until the plugin is fixed. If you do not have Phoca Gallery installed and you are having the same problems, you can disable the plugins to narrow down the list of suspects. I hope it will help others with the same problem.
