Something whent wrong."); } How can I fix this? ajax xmlhttprequest share|improve this question edited Sep 28 '15 at 10:47 Alex H 1,137421 asked Aug 30 '15 at 5:30 Ishantha 11 A HTTP 500 error is a server-side error. Something about the data you're posting to the service is causing the problem. Without any information on the server error (500 is as generic as it gets), there's no way to tell what's going on. –Shawn Conn Aug 30 '15 at 6:10 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote A response with a status code 500 indicates an Internal Server Error. That means that there was an unexpected error on the server side that your request triggered. If you're the developer of the server software, look at the logs or debug the server application to get to the root of the problem. Your JS code looks ok. share|improve this answer answered Sep 1 '15 at 6:28 theDmi 7,53433277 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard

I am using Ajax (Xmlhttprequest) to request a web service. This works fine when i access the website from the same machine. But from another machine internal server it gives internal server error . Snapshots of the java code. var _url="../resources/handler/ajx.asmx"; var srvc="AjxRqst; _ajx.open("POST",_url+"/"+srvc); _ajx.onreadystatechange = function(){CompLogo(_ajxCompLogo);}; _ajx.setRequestHeader("Content-Type","application/x-www-form-urlencoded"); _ajx.send(_arg); This same code works fine whenever the website is accessed from same server where the site has been hosted. I also tried to specify full url, the error message is "forbidden". Please note that the webservice is not hosted separately but in the same web application. Is internal server error this the reason? Thanks in advance for your assistance. Disable: Options/ Advanced / Showing Friendly Errors In the meantime, Did you take a look if the execute permissions is enabled as application name? igor, Igor Monteiro Reply bharatir34 13 Posts Re: 500 (internal server error) Jul 24, 2009 02:50 AM|bharatir34|LINK IF the site is opened from other computers, following line gives error: _ajx.open("POST",_url+"/"+srvc); The error is different depending on the _url value. For e.g. if full path in the form of "http://servername/...., has been specified, it gives forbidden error where as if relative path is given without http:// tag, it throw 500 ( internal server error). However , no error is thrown if the site is accessed from the same computer hosting the site. The the website has full execute rights for both code and scripts as well as anonymous access allowed is enabled.
