Server Error by tknutson » Tue May 01, 2012 5:20 pm I have hit another snag in my installation of Nagios 3.3.1 on a Linux Ubuntu server with an Intel base processor.Apache is running, Nagios is runningOpen web browers type https://localhost/nagios and I get the following: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal permission denied exec of usr local nagios sbin status cgi failed error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. Apache/2.2.20 (Ubuntu) Server at localhost Port 80Base on the reading articles on the this support forum it appears that this is permission issue. I checked the Apache error.log file and access was being denied to the "/usr/local/nagios/etc/htpasswd.users" file.I attempted changed permission using the following: chown nagios:nagios /usr/local/nagios/etc/htpasswd.user chmod 755 /usr/local/nagios/etc/htpasswd.userThe the Apache error.log is as follows at this point in time: root@Octoberfest:/# tail -f /var/log/apache2/error.log [Tue May 01 14:29:55 2012] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] File does not exist: /var/www/favicon.ico [Tue May 01 14:29:55 2012] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] File does not exist: /var/www/favicon.ico [Tue May 01 14:30:19 2012] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] (2)No such file or directory: Could not open password file: /usr/
few minutes. Join Now Hello, I recently completed an installation Nagios v3.2.3 on CentOS 5.5 using the instructions at http://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/show/731. The Installation went relatively smooth from what I can see. After the installation, I believe there was mention of having to perform omd internal server error 500 some initial configuration. The only config I have done thus far is changing the default email unable to get process status nagios address for alerts. I have not done anything else.
Now when I log onto http://account only takes a few minutes. Now it is not possible to Access the Webinterface correctly, because the following ErrorMessage is reported: Internal Server Error- The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator to inform of the time the error occurred and of anything you might have done that may have caused internal server the error. You can see the error-logs and configuration-files as attachments to this question. If you created a user - nagios and group - nagios, you may need to chown nagios.nagios /nagios and its subdirectories and then chmod 755 the appropriate files. 1 Pimiento OP WebmasterIP Jan 27, 2012 at 5:56 UTC which appropriate files do you exactly mean ??? many thanks for your efforts in anticipation 0 Habanero OP InkMaster Jan 30, 2012 at 6:17 UTC I would make the changes recursive and apply to all subdirectories under /usr/local/nagios or wherever you installed it. 0 Pimiento OP WebmasterIP Feb 2, 2
