You Don't Have Permission To Access /nagios/ On This Server.
2 participants Yuav commented Jun 7, 2012 My config: include nagios When trying to log in with the expected defaults: 'nagiosadmin' / '', server returns 500: (2)No such file or directory: Could not open password http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-newbie-8/nagios-internal-server-error-903798/ file: /etc/nagios3/htpasswd.users Yuav commented Jun 7, 2012 Probably related to /etc/init.d/nagios3 start failing due to: Error: Could not expand members specified in hostgroup (config file '/etc/nagios/auto.d/hostgroups/all.cfg', starting on line 3) Error processing object config files! The systems I'm using is a clean Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Example42 member alvagante commented Jun 7, 2012 Create /etc/nagios3/htpasswd.users manually on the Nagios server (that's a bug I have to fix, but will do it https://github.com/example42/control-repo/issues/28 in the nextgen module): htpasswd -c /etc/nagios3/htpasswd.users nagiosadmin Error: Could not expand members specified in hostgroup (config file '/etc/nagios/auto.d/hostgroups/all.cfg', starting on line 3) is probably due to the fact that there's no other host where puppet has runs and for which it has exported configs. First run puppet on another node, then run it on the Nagios server, you should see /etc/nagios/auto.d/hosts/ being populated. (Be sure to have storeconfigs = true on you puppetmaster puppet.conf) Yuav commented Jun 7, 2012 Error: Could not expand members specified in hostgroup (config file '/etc/nagios/auto.d/hostgroups/all.cfg', starting on line 3) The common workaround here is to always add localhost as a node. Also worth mentioning that since nagios3, the member directive is no longer a required field (although it does make sense to keep it for the 'all' definition.) Yuav commented Jun 7, 2012 Another issue with default nagios: nagios-nrpe-plugin is not included (installed), such that all nrpe (default) checks are failing. Example42 member alvagante commented Jun 8, 2012 I'm going to rewrite the Nagios module using the NextGen layout, prefer not to spend to much energy in fixing the old one and its compatibily with the (new) nrpe module. I suppose you managed anyway to install nagios-nrpe-plugin package. alvagante closed t
phpmyadmin, and nagios3 packages (with dependencies) through apt-get. phpmyadmin and cacti work great, but on login to nagios3 I get "500 Internal Server Error", and can't get it https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nagios3/+question/51924 to reprompt me for credentials. The username/password I'm using are the ones https://monitoring-portal.org/index.php?thread/13077-nagios-3-und-internal-server-error-workaround/ I set up during install. Basically, I'm stumped. All the directories referred to in /etc/apache2/conf.d/nagios exist with what look like perfectly acceptable permissions (owned by user and group nagios with read permissons for all users). Am I authenticating wrong? Is something missing? Could a more useful error be generated? The internal server only mention of that error I can find with the word "ubuntu" is in some document at scribd.com that never actually loads, so I'm stumped. The default htpasswd file is /etc/nagios2/htpasswd.users, which does not exist upon installation. " cd /etc/nagios2/ sudo htpasswd -c htpasswd.users nagiosadmin Maybe you need to create that file? I'd recommend reading the rest of that doc. I don't know how much has changed between Nagios 2 and 3, though. Hope it helps. Inigo (ubuntu-inigosoto) said on 2009-04-22: #3 I had the same problem as Kevin L. Nault, and Omegamormegil's solution worked just fine for Nagios 3. Looking at the apache log hinted that the password file wasn't being found Thanks! Kevin L. Nault (prof-morbius) said on 2009-04-22: #4 In fact, I ran this down quite a while ago, and forgot about this issue
