Everything works except the Search feature (not using FAST Search). My content source is Local SharePoint Sites, crawls return 40k+ results. However, when I search, I always get the following error: Error Internal server error exception: Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation. Correlation ID: 7ef88eb0-47d5-4e0f-b5cf-177ebca4a6df Date and Time: 6/25/2014 3:40:13 PM This seems to be very ambiguous, and I've seen dozens of postings with similar search problems, but no consistent remedy for the situation. 2010 search error sharepoint-server server share|improve this question edited Jun 25 '14 at 20:55 Waqas Sarwar MCSE 34.4k92142 asked Jun 25 '14 at 20:44 Troy 62 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote Their are many reasons for this issue. You have to check the ULS logs for against that correlation id to get more info.if you have powershell access run the below command on one of the server to get complete trace. Merge-SPLogFile -correlation "7ef88eb0-47d5-4e0f-b5cf-177ebca4a6df" -Path "C:\Error.log" -StartTime "06/25/2014 03:35" - EndTime "06/25/2014 03:42" share the logs. Possible issues for the error are: Reboot your server(s). Ensure that your search services have started. Ensure you dont have any issues with your search databases. Eg. At the site collection level, under Search Settings, search is configured as follows: Site Collection Search Center: Do not use custom scopes Site Collection Search Drop Down Mode: Do not show scopes dropdown, and default to contextual scope Site Collection Search Results Page: /_layouts/OSSSearchResults.aspx When I perform a search, the search results page is at /{Variation}/_layouts/OSSSearchResults.aspx. All good until now. I added a copy of OSSSearchResults.aspx to my solution http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/15544/custom-osssearchresults-aspx-with-variations-in-sharepoint-2010 and renamed it to MyOSSSearchResults.aspx and then changed the Site Collection Search Results Page setting to /_layouts/MyOSSSearchResults.aspx. Now when I perform a search, the results are displayed at /_layouts/MyOSSSearchResults.aspx - at the site collection level, above my variations. What do I need to do to ensure that my custom version of OSSSearchResults.aspx shows search results at the variation level? Thank you! search-scope search-results share|improve this question asked Jul 3 '11 at 1:52 George Durzi 458922 What are you trying to achieve though? If you want to customize search results, using Search Center is the way to go because they would allow you to customize via site pages instead of Application pages under _layouts folder. –Ashish Patel Jul 3 '11 at 22:18 It appears that the searchboxex control and the osssearchresults.aspx are tightly integrated, you wont be able to replace it without such unexpected behaviors. –Ashish Patel Jul 3 '11 at 22:19 I was trying to minimize development effort and thought avoiding the Search Center would be a good idea since I'd need to brand it. I also obviously don't want to modify the out of the box OSSSearchResults.aspx, so I thought I could just throw a copy of it up there and modify it. – George Durzi 8 hours ago –George Durzi Jul 6 '11 at 5:34 add a comment| 1
get a user prompt. To get pass this prompt you must enter valid username, otherwise you'll get "Access Denied". Solution: Navigate to below path and open http://suryapulipati.blogspot.com/2013/04/sharepoint-2010-search-and-anonymous.html osssearchresults.aspx page C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server\Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\osssearchresults.aspx Always have a backup of http://stackoverflow.com/questions/325757/sharepoint-search-redirect-from-osssearchresults-aspx-to-search-centre this file beforemodifyingit. We just need to remove DynamicMasterPageFile And Inherits attributes. Change the page directive from <%@ Page Language="C#" DynamicMasterPageFile="~masterurl/default.master" Inherits="Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Internal.UI.OssSearchResults" EnableViewState="false" EnableViewStateMac="false" %> to <%@ Page Language="C#" MasterPageFile="/_layouts/v4.master" EnableViewState="false" EnableViewStateMac="false" %> You can give any master page which is located under layouts folder. Otherwise you will get internal server error like (Error parsing attribute 'dynamicmasterpagefile': Type 'System.Web.UI.Page' does not have a public property named 'dynamicmasterpagefile'.) That's it. You search will work now. For safer side just reset IIS server. There are two types of searches: contextual which searches just in current page or list (they are labelled like: This site: Name of site or This list: Name of list), they point to OSSSearchResults.aspx page custom searches which can be user defined, they point to Search center Custom searches are not a problem, since search center can be modified easily, but with contextual searches there is a problem. So, is there a way to configure sharepoint so it will send users to search center even with contextual searches? I know that i can insert some javascript into OSSSearchResults.aspx or create HttpHandler which will redirect him automatically, but i wonder if there is some more native solution. sharepoint search share|improve this question asked Nov 28 '08 at 13:15 drax 2,23731931 This is your ultimate solution: sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/16829/… –Davis May 2 '12 at 12:49 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote accepted I wrote an article that might help you configure this. share|improve this answer edited Nov 28 '08 at 16:25 answered Nov 28 '08 at 16:13 Toni Frankola 1,3991225 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote In SharePOint 2013 - Go to site settings-> Seach settings -> Enter the search center url-> tick mark the -> Use the same results page settings as my parent.
