In fact I can receive a text from this number but when I try to reply to that text I get the error message again.I deleted the contact info in case there was something broken there and I'm trying it with just the raw phone number but without any luck. What can I do? It's my boss's number so it's important I fix this problem. All other contacts and texts are working just fine, it's just this one phone,a Samsung galaxy on T-mobile if that helps. Solved! Go to Solution. 21 people had this problem. Me too Ever since I upgraded to an iPhone 5s I get an Error Invalid Number message when sending a text to a phone number that used to

been reading all over the internet and it seems loads of people are having the same 122 error invalid number please resend problem but there is no solution. I noticed the common denominator seemed to be people changing carriers. I found two people stating that switching fake invalid number text message from T-Mobile to ATT caused the problem as it was TMobile sending an internal text to track your Fav 5 members. This meant if you switched carriers the message was getting rejected. Then it appeared a lot of people were getting https://forums.att.com/t5/Apple/Error-Invalid-Number-message-when-sending-text/td-p/4214086 it when texting friends, no idea what caused this. Finally someone suggested it was an issue with the phone trying to access the prior carriers voicemail. I went into settings>more>application manager then to the TMobile visual voicemail system. I cleared the cache the clicked "turn off" which ultimately deleted the app. I then went to the dialer and held down the #1 key which called my voicemail (not sure if it was Tm or ATT system) and it said my password http://androidforums.com/threads/1121611611-error-122-invalid-number-fix.886366/ was expired and I changed it. After doing all of this the messages have completely stopped. I cannot say for sure I know the cause but it appears to be voicemail related. Im guessing after switching carriers the phone still tries to access the previous carriers system. I am simply posting this to help and I am going to post the link back to the on 10-15 websites where people appeared to really be struggling. Mother's Day. She of course loves it, but informed me that she was unable to message me and kept getting the http://www.timothydeblock.com/blog/2014/5/12/fix-message-sent-using-invalid-number-of-digits-msg-2114 following message:Message sent using invalid number of digits. Please resend using 10 digit http://www.macyourself.com/2008/08/28/text-message-fails-on-iphone-error-invalid-number-notification/ number or valid short code. Msg 2114.Our carrier is Sprint and there seems to be an issue with trying to send a text message using only seven digits. In researching the problem I found that this problem was not exclusive to the iPhone 5s, but the fix seems to involve invalid number similar setting changes. For the most part you need to delete the person you're having problems texting from your contact list and delete any text messages you attempted to send. Also delete the error messages you received for each attempt. After you've done that reboot the phone and try sending that person a text. For my wife's phone I went straight to error invalid number messages and composed a new message with my number. You'll need to try something similar on other phones, but here are the exact directions on an iPhone 5s:Open Contacts -> select the contact -> select edit -> scroll all the way to the bottom and delete contact (delete multiple entries of the same phone number, my wife had five).Open the Messages app -> select Edit -> select the red circle and then select delete. Do this for both the person and the messages you received.Open the Settings app -> scroll down and select Messages -> turn off messages, by selecting the switch, and any other options turned on.Turn off your phone and then turn it back on.Go straight to messages and compose a new message and put in the phone number of the person you're trying to text. Send and that person should receive the text message. Add the person to your contacts and go back into message settings to turn on any other options you want on that you turned off. will say it's AT&T's fault. Either way, there's a solution to get rid of that nagging problem that won't let you send texts on your iPhone. I received a text from a friend of mine today, but when I went to reply I was soon greeted with an automated response from AT&T saying I was trying to contact a non-existent phone number: From: 1 (121) 611-611 Error invalid number. Please re-send using a valid 10 digit mobile number or valid short code. I believe this problem stemmed from me adding a person to my iPhone's contacts without the area code. Even when I went back into my contacts to edit the phone number with the area code, I was unsuccessful at shaking the error. Making a completely new contact and clearing the conversation's contents didn't resolve the problem either. The real solution, as it turns out, is to totally delete the conversation from the Text Messages screen. To delete the entire conversation, tap the Edit button on the main Text Messages screen. Press the minus symbol next to the problematic conversation and confirm that you want to delete it. That should be all you need to do, aside from adding the area code to your contact's phone number.
