Search Forums Show Threads Show Posts Advanced Search Topic: Error 1628 - I have been stuffed by Apple 09-10-2005, 10:33 AM #1 misper666 Pro Lounger Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: UK Posts: 588 Error 1628 - I have been stuffed by Apple permalink i cannot get into my itunes after attempting to update to iTunes 5 (including quick time 7, on windows xp) 1628 failed to complete installation . i have tried all the troubleshooting steps including: windows updates (for xp) end related processes in task manager uninstall anything to do with quicktime, ipod or itunes - (though now i still have an itunes shortcut, but its not listed in remove programs ) deleting c drive, windows, temp contents.... I tried to update iTunes several times and am getting errors with Quick Time in particular.
Follows is a what happens asi start the install process:

Error Code: -3
OK
Installation Successful.
Setup has completed installing iTunes and Quick Time
Click Finish to exit
1628: Failed to complete installation

When I click on iTunes icon I get: QuickTime Unavailable
QuickTime failed to initialize (error -2093).
QuickTime is required to run iTunes. Please reinstall iTunes.
