wouldn't boot and attempts to Restore from iTunes failed with error code 2005. This is also called putting your iPhone in error code 2005 DFU mode, or Device Firmware Update mode. How to do a firmware reset Note: If this screws up your phone, it's not my fault. This is unsupported and you may have to go to https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5769333?tstart=0 the Apple Store anyway. Perform this procedure at your own risk. Connect the iPhone to your computer and have iTunes open. Press and hold both the sleep/wake and the Home button until the screen goes black. Release the sleep/wake button but continue holding the Home button for about 20 seconds. After about 20 seconds, you should see your iPhone pop up in iTunes in recovery mode, asking for https://marco.org/2009/05/05/how-to-fix-iphone-restore-error-2005-and-maybe-other a restore. Your iPhone LCD should remain black. This is firmware reset mode. Restore it from iTunes normally. "From my experience, it does take a couple of tries to get it into ‘firmware reset' mode. I stress when the iPhone initially pops up in iTunes, the phone will still have a black screen. Only after you start the restore will the iPhone display anything in the LCD." And another note about the declining quality and standards for the "Geniuses": As a former (Mac) Genius (worked 2007-09) […] I can attest that most Geniuses including myself did not know jack about computers and the quality has gone way down. They key factor is cost. Geniuses were paid $50-65k back in the day […]. Now an average Genius gets paid about $30-35k. Yes there are certifications, and all geniuses are certified Apple technicians. However, the certifications have been Fisher Priced very much down. For example, to certify today, a Genius is not expected to be able to use or even open Terminal and run commands. […] Remember a Genius is a retail employee, and believe me from first-hand experience, I was treated like one. It's not a huge surprise that Apple's retail stores have gone through

Itunes Restore Error 3194 & 2005 0 Howdy everyone, I've got a serious http://www.jailbreakqa.com/questions/100443/itunes-restore-error-3194-2005 problem with my Ipad 1. 1) It's stuck at the apple logo upon restart. (This was the http://forums.macrumors.com/threads/cant-restore-iphone-5-error-2005.1637995/ main problem) 2) Tried restoring from Itunes and was confronted with Error 3194 (irrespective whether I tried to restore to stock firmware or jailbroken firmwares) 3) Searched the net and saw most sites recommend removing gs.apple.com from the Hosts file. (I have never edited my hosts file and double checking it confirmed that I have no entry for gs.apple.com) 4) I have also tried using TU, but when itunes error I tried restoring from itunes with TSS Server running I got error 2005 instead. (not manually download the ipsw) (16 Apr '12, 00:31) Achilles72 Latest attempt: 6) Tried using redsn0w_win_0.9.9b7, redsn0w_win_0.9.10b1, error 2005 itunes redsn0w_win_0.9.10b2 - Doesn't get very far. Seemed to be stuck at uploading stage 1. 7) Tried using redsn0w_win_0.9.10b5c with IOS 5.0.1. Redsn0w can upload all the 2 stages but stuck at waiting for device to start. On my Ipad, it remained blank as if its still on DFU mode which it is not. (16 Apr '12, 03:16) Achilles72 Right! I'm not quite sure what I did but I seemed to have gotten rid of error 3194 and 2005 during my attempt to restore my Ipad 1. Unfortunately a new set of error code came up. I'm left with error 1602 now. Here are my attempts when I got that 1602 error: i - I placed my Ipad in DFU mode ii - Connect my Ipad to my PC (running windows vista) iii - Start up Itunes (I've reinstall the latest version - 10.6) iv - Itunes detect my Ipad in recovery mode. v - I clicked on "Restore" and Itunes verify it with Apple server (1 time) vi - Then Itunes prepared my Ipad for restore vii - Then it attempt to verify it with apple once more (2nd. time) viii - This is when I noticed that my Ipad tries to come out of DFU mode. It remained blank screen but the backlight lighted up as if its going to start but the apple logo never comes up and it just hangs there. ix - A couple of minutes later Itunes prompt up Error 1602.
