response to kangavik Go to Sys Pref > Security >Click on Firewall then make sure the radio button "Allow only essential services" is checked. Click the + sign at the bottom then navigate to iTunes in your applications folder and select add. Make sure when iTunes is added it is "Allowing incoming connections." This worked for me using iTunes 8 and the 6.3 firmware. An unknown error occurred (-3256)." The problem has asserted itself following the latest set of software updates. Reading all the threads I can find on the internet, I have determined to the best of my ability that the firewall UDP and network IPv6 settings are not the problem (these are the common fixes for most people.) Very aggravating to have this happen for no apparent reason. Does anyone else have the same issue and possibly a solution? Jan 21, 2009 Applications, Mac OS X We were getting this iTunes 8 error: An error occured while connecting to the remote speaker "XYZ". An unknown error occured (-3256). We use a 3G iPhone running the app "Remote" to connect to iTunes and control the music. But we couldn't connect to our Airport Express speakers over the wireless network. The solution?
