Usually, the error you get says: The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1600 - 1601 - 1602 - 1603 - 1604) There is an easy http://www.idownloadblog.com/2010/02/16/fix-error-1600-1601-1602-1603-1604/ and quick fix for this. The downside is that it is Windows only (Mac version is in the work), and that it only works for iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iTouch 1G and iTouch 2G. In other words, no iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3G support. iREB (iTunes Restore Error Bypasser) is a neat little tool that will help you fix these errors. Step 1: Download iREB from here. Step 2: Launch iTunes and put your iPhone in DFU mode (hold power and home button together for 10 seconds; release the power button and keep holding the home button until iTunes tells you it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. Step 3: Once iTunes has detected your iPhone in recovery mode, close iTunes and launch iREB. Step 4: Select your device and wait for the screen to go red or white. Step 5: Launch iTunes and hold the SHIFT key while clicking on restore. A window will open. From there just browse for the custom firmware you want to restore to. You should be good to go. iTunes should restore your iPhone to the desired firmware without giving you any error. Sh
it crashed halfway through and gave the following error. “iTunes could not connect to this iPhone because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000065)”. My main problem here was i had http://www.iphonepassion.com/page/error-1304/2.html no backup of my phone. None at all so i couldn't just restore through http://osxdaily.com/2011/10/12/fix-error-3002-during-ios-5-update/ ITunes then restore from backup. I have around 600 photo's on my phone and restoring would of lost them all. After much searching around on the web i found a program called TinyUmbrella and using this app i was able to release my IPhone from Recover Mode then it booted up just fine. Just click Exit itunes error Recovery button. Just search for TinyUmbrella in Google and its the 1st link. To do this I downloaded the latest iTunes software to my laptop. I then attached my itunes unknown error iphone 3g to my laptop and itunes software started updating the OS. However there was an error in the update process so I clicked on the button restore button. This failed now I have an iphone that does not work. The iTunes error is "The IPhone "iphone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1015) This actually happened once before to me about 1 year ago (I obviously totally forget about the incident). Anyway I had to take it to one of those phone repair shops and had to pay to get it repaired. I want to see if I can solve this by myself as I feel I am good on computers. While updating to 3.0, his battery died and now the phone is stuck in recovery mode. Restoring gives me error 28. I've tried: DFU Mode Alternate USB ports New user account Leopard 10.5.6, 10.5.7, and Vista Ultimate DMZ mode for the router Standard restore and update Latest version of iTunes Restarting the computer Alternate computer(s) iTunes recognizes the phone in
iTunes. It's not entirely clear what's causing this, but we have provided a solution that should work for both Mac and Windows users to resolve the error message so that you can update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch as intended. Fixing Error 3002 & 3200 You will be restoring to iOS rather than updating, meaning the device will be back to a fresh iOS installation. Be sure you have a backup of the iOS device before you proceed, so that you can then get all your apps and settings back. Important: Before proceeding, be sure you have removed any blocks for gs.apple.com from your hosts file! Be sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed Download new iOS IPSW specific to your device, save it somewhere that is easy to find Launch iTunes and then do the following… Mac users: hold down the OPTION key then click on "Restore", locate the aforementioned IPSW file Windows users: hold down the SHIFT key and then click on "Restore", point iTunes to the downloaded IPSW file If your hardware gets totally boinked or if you're then encountering error 3194, you can also try putting the iPhone or iPad into DFU mode and restoring while in recovery. Remember to check your hosts file too, if you blocked an Apple server or use Sauriks instead in the past for jailbreak purposes, that will cause issues now when you are updating to the latest iOS. Update: Another common error is "An internal error has occurred" - this is an indication that Apple's servers are swamped, so you may want to try again later. Enjoy this tip?
